Save some money! I use cheap 12ft and 18ft extenders for domestic, they get the every day daily abuse but are cheap and easy to replace, also very light in use. I have the 40ft X-tel pole and the 60ft CX-Tel for my commercial work. To 40 gets used occaisionally in domestic but rare. Ok the 40 and 60 ft poles cost a bit but when your weilding one of them all day on a commercial job weight is all important. The other nice thing with the x-tel poles is being able to use them by yourself. The 60 ft is easy to put up like a normal pole, no extending on the ground and then walking up with two people nonsence.
4  poles all work covered...nice :)

Alex,
"if i did get a fishing pole, what one should i go for so that i dont get alot of flex on the pole, thanks "

If you want to go higher than say 25ft and want to use a fishing pole an F16 seems to have the least problems, mine is still going strong after 14 months- but you do need to look after them. The advantage is lightness and you asked about stiffness,  then this is the pole I advise   http://www.cheshirefishing.co.uk/shop/mappoles.htm  its the F16 for £250 due to rise to £289 very soon. It will get you to 42ft but you will need a lighter brush and some silicon algarde aquarium hose. Click on my diy link below. It is  the stiffest pole anywhere.
For anything lower, then any other good pole will do but if having experienced the delight of these poles you might want to look at the Reload previously mentioned or wait a bit and see whats up my sleeve.

Jeff what mods have to be made to that F16 in order for it to take the gooseneck with carbon insert, and are there bits that you have to discard when you recieve it.

Discard 1-4 or sell them back to the shop, ebay etc. I am pretty sure that the Zensor flex No4 (which is important) fits straight onto the no5 section of a Maver or any other pole. Its a strong collar that takes any of the strain.

I havent ever seen the supalight carbon insert etc but the £18.99 Zensor No4 is bomb proof and should take a cut down B&Q alu ariel pole  or you can fit anything that tapers (like your gooseneck) onto it somewhere along its length.
There is  guy from Hamilton Scotland that also has good prices on poles might be worth a ring.

why do people even contemplate an 18 ft pole when its useless above conservatories.

its bad advice

come on guys, a good pole for downstairs is easily explained , but to say an 18ft is the bees knees is misleading people who want to get it right...

18ft useless

24 adaquate for all but a few domestic... and im a bloody new lad.  ::)

No it's not.  I was using a heavy 24 foot pole for over conservatories.  I now use an 18 foot Extender.  I sometimes have to use it from the side though.  I would agree that it is good practice to have a 24 footer (or more) for the few windows where you may not have side access over a conservatory.  I have gone around my entire round now with an 18 foot Extender and there are only a couple of windows where I struggled badly (still managed them though).

Same here.  I've got an 18ft Predator.  Had to do a bit of modification of the top clamp to stop it slipping after 5 months use, but it's the only pole I use for 95% of my work.

I have a 6ft minipole for bungalows and a 24ft powerpole for second floor work, but that hardly ever comes out of the van.

Cheers,

Ian

I got freedom to build me a 4 x 4ft pole for normal use. £120-00. It reaches normal ground and first floor windows so it's great for everyday use and cheap and being 4ft sections it's very easy to use, especially down tight sides.

I then got the 30ft new hybrid pole from freedom. it's a great pole, but i just use it for windows above ground and first. this way it'll last longer and justify the price.

It's a good idea to buy one pole to do everything, but you need to think about how long it will last compared to how much it costs.

If the £120-00 pole lasts a year using it all the time then I would need a £400-00 pole to last for 3 1/2 years using it all the time plus the higher windows too to equal the same expense.

If there is a pole out there then let me know, but someone I know has an ergo-lite that's clamps are perishing after a couple of years and it's not used everyday. That's a £1k pole !!
