In seven days from today, I will be starting legal Proceedings against a welsh cleaning company, whom shall name nameless for the time being, they sub-contracted me for a first clean local to myself.

I have today sent the final demand (registered) with the promise of legal Proceedings to start in seven days if no payment is received, its not a vast amount but the principle of the matter that counts.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to start legal proceedings on line or do I have to go to my local county court office?
Any advice guy's will be gratefully appreciated.

Also how do I stand by naming the company on the forum to you guy's, Just so you know who to stay clear of, as this company operates all over the country and they usually sub out the W/C side to mugs like us.

Just about to phone my Daughters in-laws up, who are solicitors, just to ask a little more advice from them, and maybe get them to send a letter for me.

Just been intouch with the daughters in-laws, they have advised me to send my final demand off, giving them 7 days to pay, if they don't pay in seven days they will send them a letter for me, and start county court proceedings, they told me they will go as far as sending in the baliffs

try about 8 big beefy blokes.  A mate from uni is a bailiff part-time and if he asked me for money he'd soon get it! He reckons he's one of the smaller lads (he's 6'2 and about 18 stone, it ain't fat either!)

My son-in-law is a head bouncer, sorry must call the head doorman now : he told me he would be happy to collect it for me said it would be a nice day out.

I have done this to a large contractor. Firstly you are tight to give them 7 days. What you could also have done is added late payment interest at I think it is about 8% above base rate for all outstanding money. If you use my best friend google he/she will tell you how to calculate it as it varies depending upon how long the debt has remained unpaid.

If this with the 7 days is not paid then go into your local court and pick up a small court claim form. You will need to fill out 3 of these (which are provided).
One will go to the defendant one to you and one to the court officer. You will need to be completely accurate and supply copies of correspondence for each set of forms.
You will then pay a fee (added to the amount claimed) which rises for the more money youare seeking.
Once this is served (ususally 3/4 days) you will receive confirmation. Then the defendant has 28 days to pay or respond with  adefence. If no response then CCJ is automatically entered and you can then send the Bailiffs in. I have done this too as I sent myself and it worked but thats another story for another day!

How much time do they need, they have had three months  to pay it, seven days is ample time to write and post a cheque.

I agree but unfortunately if you dont follow a procedure then you lose! That simple and yet wrong too.

I posted the final reminder off to them by registered post on wednesday, reminding them of legal action, checked on the internet this morning that they had signed for it, and they had, yesterday

This morning I had a cheque for £200 drop onto my mat, all that after 3 months waiting

ha ha, I do them every month

Let me explain :
I do a pub owned by a big chain and they were having a 20 room hotel built, the builders called in the company (who owed me the money) to do the builders clean, they contacted me to  do the windows, so it was them who owed me the money and not the pub I do.

Once all the cleaning was done, I then took over the contract for the pub and the hotel windows, I do the Job once a month and I'm paid out of the till by the pub.
phew! I hope you got all that, because I need a drink now.
