I would get some flyers and start delivering them, if that fails door knock and offer demo's, tell em discount first job on the street cos often pick up a few more jobs when people see results.

good luck

cold calling is really hard work. It's a fact in the buisness world that the first time you call they won't be interested or the first time they see your leaflet they'l throw it away. The second time you call they will listen but not be interested, the second time they see your leaflet they will read it then throw it, the third time if they needed you they will listen or they will call your no. on the leaflet. So, maybe park a cleaned bike somewhere with your advert where people wil see it over and over again. Or use a billboard in a shopping centre. Don't waste your money on leaflets! Get a medium coloured piture advert in the yellow pages, get a webb site it's pro! Then.... once you have a few customers it's word of mouth and recommendation that will get yousomewhere. Above all give away free bees. Maybe stand in a car park, do them for nothing then, give out your pro looking cards with your no. on...
 Have fun

got to disagree alittle bit bob,

i think leaflets are good and also cold calling but done in a smart way, ie would you be interested in a free demonstration? then do it in a pretty obvious place! ;)

i think you hit the nail on the head tho', websites are a must!

since ive put mine on my leaflets i get twice as many calls (people like to check you out whilst remaining annonymous)

i dont think spending loads on big adverts always guarentees work but i am sure the best methods are different throughout the country.

but when starting out theres nothing wrong with a bit of legwork to generate some cash.

regards,

steve

Hello, I started by putting out leaflets and got more return than that, you have to be switched on to which area they go to and worded to catch that type of person you would hope would employ your services. This is my fourth season ( I still have a part time job - 2 days / week ) but have been working 7 days a week to keep up. What I have found is that you need other services to support you through the winter, I clean windows, carpets, drives and also jet drains. Doing these others ie WFP windows allows you to tell the customers about the other services and gives you that "foot in the door". I hate football so I canvass when the football is on the TV
