Clear Desk Policy
« on: May 17, 2007, 08:17:34 pm »
Hi

Do any of you have clear desk Policy on your contracts if so do the office staff stick to it.
We are having problems lately with lazy +++++ staff. If the desks are not left clear we leave it but the dust starts to build up and it looks bad on us especially if visitors come in to the building so we end up cleaning them I suppose in a way it is our fault we should leave them until they clear them.

What do you say to if they don’t clear there desks. They don’t like it if you mention it.

It takes minutes to clear your desk at the end of the day.

clear desk policy is normally agreed with the client or the main site contact ask them to email all staff ensuring that they clear their desks once/twice a week on say a tues and thursday.
If they dont clear their desks then the desks dont get cleaned most clients are happy to implement this for you and that way if they get a complaint from a staff member they can refer them to the original email.

We leave an A folded card on their desk saying,

We were unable to clean your desk due to it not being left clear.
Whilst this may not concern you, it does reflect badly on the service we provide.

For future reference desks are polished on Tuesdays and Thursdays

                               Thankyou for you co-operation

I agree the use of the cards at the contract start and so far everyone has been more than happy to go along with it, and it def works  ;D
