first builders clean
« on: May 16, 2007, 01:27:45 pm »
Hi there,

Just started cleaning business one week ago and have just got my first prospective customer which is a builders clean on a 15 room hotel which has just been totally refurbished.

I am going to quote the job on saturday but am nervous as i wasnt looking for such a grand scale job as my first, the other problem is, i just have 3 people who could help me with this, how do i quote the job around 3 staff because obviously it will take longer and i dont want to quote to much and lose out.

Also this will be my first quote, does anyone have any encouraging advice for the first time meeting. Any help most appreciated

get a good nights sleep the night before, have a good breakfast and look at your self in the mirror before you go and tell your self how great you are and go for it.

the worst scenario is you under quote and end up scrubbing like a ..............
so what, at least you`ll still be earning and you`ll be a bit wiser for the next one.

so just relax your the boss and no ones gonna say you done it wrong other than you, and you don`t have to tell anyone if you do get it wrong so it don`t matter.

I always take a digital camera with me when I quote so I can take loads of photos to remind me later when i`m doing the written quote.

and don`t forget to ask for a business card so you know where to send the quote (I spent 3hrs doing my first quote and then realized I did not know where to send it, DOH! ::))

15 rooms divided by 4. Generally people don't work well for more than 3 hours without a break. Builders cleans obviously take a lot longer than general cleans, it seems everytime you hoover something it's back. I recommend you hire vacuums that you strap on your back this makes movement easier and tidyer so bear that price in mind to be added on top. Doing a good job is more important than doing a quick one. You will come highly recommended after this in the building industry, then you can charge what you like in future because they want you to do the job and will pay for the privledge!

derek

where in the country are you ??

we do commercial build cleans quite a lot

questions

is it a one visit or two vist clean that they are looking for to handover

will floor finishes be in place??

what is the handover date ??

each room will probably ahve a bathroom

the bathrooms take the longest, so you need to allow for that.

what size are the rooms??

ont be fooled into thinking that the corridors are easy.

have you got your CIS details 'new scheme' to give to the client. you will need those, so they can pay you.

if you look at in the following way, each room is really like a bedsit, therefore if they wanted one visit clean, then you could say £125 per unit, multiplied by number of units.

you may also find that the builderr wants you to use 110v vacs instead of 240v.
whichever the case, use either henry type, or the grey numatic contractor vacs. totally bullet proof, and relaible.

if trades are still on site, then try to get a timeframe from the site agent as to there deadlines.

regards

martin
