« on: May 09, 2007, 06:58:52 pm »
hi was just wondering what is the latest time you work to now the
nights are lighter. i normally work up to six but would like to work
later but feel this would be an intrusion on the customers evening.

so wondering what others do

Not sure this fits this topic, but see what you think. It's true.
I once had a customer move out of my area into a rural area. I recomended them to a pal of mine who was building a round. A few months later I got a call from an exasperated X customer asking me to stop my mate from calling to collect his money at 11pm. When I asked him about it thinking there must be some mistake, there wasn't. He didn't even seem to see what was wrong with it.  :o

4-5pm finish

when i first started i used to work till 7-8 most nights but then what do you do in the winter when the nights get shorter?

you then cant do all the work so i work the same hours in the summers as i do in the winter.

Make this the job you love doing every day non stop and then start and finish at a resonable time

M&C, as a nightbuster you will often see me at 11pm using moonlight to get the reflections, then its up at 5 and start by 6am   ;D - its a hard life but I do have siestas.
Knock and make a noise @ 6am and they are all in  :)

Yes, you would be surprised that there are lots of people that wake early. In the heat of the summer we start at 6 on some houses. I usually collapse about 1 and have a siesta. If its really hot at the end of the day I do the upstairs of 10 houses in the afternoon and creep round the bottoms early the next day. Not joking, I hate heat and cold.

i dont like to start cleaning before 9am as i find they appreciate getting up for work, getting the kids ready and off to school... before i arrive,...

i feel a bit cheeky and interrupting their privacy not to mention being a little in the way, also people are not at their best in the mornings, especially if you pop up unannounced, and startle them,

i had two new calls the other day , when i went to qoute i was asked what time i started, i said 9am, she replied " oh good my last window cleaner started at 7am and i hated it"

not saying i would not like to start earlier, but its just the way i feel........ its the same as other window cleaners  feel at the other end of the day.....

breakfast... evening meal... its all the same.

Have to admit I've dreamt of doing that 'cause I hate the heat too. However if I did that on my round I don't think I'd have a round the following month.

I got to hand it to you

i like to start at 7. i find out what customers get up early and goto work, that way i can be finished by 4 half 4 latest, or if there are no early birds 7.45.

I clean windows, dont expect people to talk to me, just want to get on with the job

Ask your customers and slowly make a list , its not all year round- only on the hot day, they can only say no. There will be some work you will find.I sometimes restart about 5pm after a siesta.
No joking in the winter I have a list of dark work I can do the night before for when its freezing in the mornings or if we have had really bad weather etc

We start at 8 and finish at 3 everyday, those spare couple of hours at the end of the day can be used for catch up if we fall behind due to weather conditions.

And like easy clean said if i take too much on in the summer then we will come unstuck in the winter when there is not enough daylight hours to get it all done
