Accountants.

I have been doing my own tax return for 2 years now but i am thinking about getting an accountant/book keeper to do my tax return for me. i have been quoted a £100 as i am a one women business. At what point do think warrants having an accountant? For example earning over a certain amount per annum or did any of you have an accountant from day 1? I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks in advance

I've had an accountant from day 1 and IMO what they cost is nothing compared to what they get you back.

I had one from day one,
think about how much time you spend doing paper work then compare that with the time you could be earning.

i have been doing my own book keeping/accounts since day 1 using TAS Books software.
I would be interested to know what people who use an account are saving - specific examples appreciated, as I am thinking of going the accountant route this year.

I've just been given a price of £700 a year. Even though two of us are working in a partnership there will only be one set of business reciepts for him to check.
Don't know if yours is cheap or mine expensive....probably both!!

sounds a bit expensive to me, we are a partnership our accountant does the wages on a monthly basis aswell, no where near what you are paying.

expensive your having a laugh mine cost £950 last year and I do my own vat returns and wages, but I have gone with a big firm of chartered accountants cos I got robbed by my first accountant he got sent to prison and I`m still in the process of suing him so be aware just cos they are accountants don`t mean they are respectable people.
Another good reason to go with a big firm (although it costs more) is that they have bigger offices and therefore a bigger potential cleaning contract for your business.
