you cant work this area its my husbands
« on: May 02, 2007, 04:11:19 pm »
we are cleaning show home in a new area so we have put out some leaflets to hopefully get enough work to cover petrol for the day.

got home and the phone rang.

you cant work in our area my husband is called squeaky clean and has been for 10 years.

she said

we clean 1000 houses a month

you cant call yourself squeaky clean.
cos my husband is squeaky.

so kevin kindly explained that are to clean show homes over there and so are canvasing with leafltes.

we do not door knock or undercut prices we are wfp and they are trad they clean 4 wks we clean 6wks they do not advertise anywhere and we do everywhere.
i.e yell.com with web link.

we have sign wrighten vans and where uniforms we have 3 vans and employ four  lads plus me and hubby. does she think she can chase us away?

and does she have the wright to?

sorry lads but she made me mad >:(

some people think its there patch but i dont agree
i also dont agree with undercuting or even asking how much they pay.

what do you think? ???

Drives you mad doesn't it?! She has no right to complain. In the end, we're running a business and our market is no different from any other.  We're just providing a service, and if you can provide a better service for the same money - or cheaper - as the other "squeaky clean", then its all good stuff!

I don't believe in intentionally undercutting other w/c's prices to get work, but I also don't believe anyone has a "patch". There are loads of window cleaners in my area, but there is also plenty of work to go around and we all get on fine. I've given work to other guys in my area, and others have passed on work to me.

its such a touchy subject but you are right no one owns a patch anywhere. i canvass all the time but never undercut anyone usually find if someone has  window cleaner already and they change to you you still end up losing 6/12 months down the line as they move on to the next one. i must admit when i first started 4 years ago i had a big hang up with other window cleaners but now i think hey we all gotta make a living somehow.

exaclty, no one has a "patch"

we get none of that round here. lets work out how many houses there are in a area...to the amount of windows cleaners

here is 1000's and 1000's to about 10 of us cleaners. plenty plenty of work for us all...stuff em, dont retaliate, (spelling?)

just go yeh whatever!

to be fair though

if all the w/c collated their work so everyone's round was compact would save alot of time and money.

so often i find 2-6 w/c on the same area, would be far better if it was just one bloke in that area, so on and so forth

you could move to stevenage squeaks but then you would show me up with your shiny new van ;D ;D

i think each customer has the right to chose who cleans their windows not all window cleaners do such a good job and we dont all like the same kind of people you need to feel safe with your window cleaner and happy with their service if not then it is your right to change window cleaners.

I could put your number on the side when I'm in the area if it helps. ;D
Which I may well be, as half my family is from Stevenage and Knebworth, so I know the area well.
Second home really.

Funny that there's two w/c with the same name in one town though. :-\

Assuming there was no swearing or threats I take it that her main point was that you shouldn't solicit for work as you shared the same name.

Might be time to think about Squeaky Clean ltd.

I dont agree, but i do agree if you get what i meen. If she phoned you up then fair enough you should realy say ok i understand. By the sounds of it you have a lot of work and me personaly would come to an agreement with them not just try run them out so to speek, as they will not try to (take you on). But ther is also the point of you wanting to exspand like everyone and you seem to be doing it fair and properly. If he has been doing the windows the for 10years i dont think you will be taking any customers off him anyway as he will be very well loved, thats a hell of a time.
Dont argue with a retard, they will just pull you down to their level and beat you with experience.
