Given the weather, are you on top of your work?
« on: May 02, 2007, 08:26:21 am »
I've just been through my spreadsheet and we're ahead of ourselves, so much so we only have 108 quids worth of work today (we should be to do this before lunch), about 120 quids worth of good stuff tomorrow (by myself - another early finish) and then nothing till Tuesday and then I'll be cleaning slightly early.

It's rare we're this efficient; it must be the good weather; but it's great to have some guilt-free time off.

I just thought I'd show-off! ;D

Is anyone else taking a long-weekend this week?  It's a bank holiday on Monday, remember.

Of course.

Never work a saturday, sunday or bank holiday.
Even if bailiffs depended on it. ;)

After 5 weeks off I'm only about a week behind now.
That's how I like it anyway. If I turn up after 4 they moan and say "not yet". ::)

I picked up 2 new ones this week and they both only want 8 weekly.
Fed up with people asking that.
I swear it'll get worse with WFP because they do stay cleaner. :-\

I am! I blitzed all of my work a few weeks ago with a friend, so had to take last week off....  ;)
Got a nice week due this week, another £280 and I should be able to take Friday off without feeling too guilty!  8)

I've only got about £70 worth to do and that's it until the 8th.

Roger,

Charge them more.  I do quite a few every-other-month jobs; and encourage it in one posh area I clean in.  Simply tell them that you'd normally charge X amount (a high one) for an every month clean, but it's X amount (a slightly higher one) for the every-other-month!

---------------------------------------

Anyway, we were finished by midday; took the dog for a walk in Tintern, set in the Wye Valley, had a beer at the Anchor and then shopped for some bar-b-cue stuff for this evening (vegitarian of course).

Wor Lass is shopping in Homebase now and I'm bored!

I got a lot of every other monthers early on.  Once I was oversubscribed with work, I offered 6 weekly across the board.  I lost very few bi-monthly jobs and the monthlies were happy as they saved a bit of money.  It also meant that I had a workload I could fulfill more comfortably.

Is there any proof they stay clean longer ?

If so can somebody direct me to it ?

Has anyone analysed it or done tests ?

I think there's a fair bit of anecdotal proof that WFP windows stay cleaner for longer.  I've read much of it on this forum and heard similar from local window cleaners who use WFP.

Ian Giles cites an example with a group of shops he does that used to be a bit of dust trap - he's done them for years - and since going WFP he's sure the windows stay cleaner.

I suspect that's because with using good old Fairy, there's a residue left on the window that dust will stick to and that rain will mark.

With pure water, once it's dry, there's no soap residue for dust to stick to and for rain water to mark.

Remember, just because evidence hasn't been analysed or tested and is purely anecdotal, it doesn't mean it's rubbish.

Bugger off Roy! ;D

Dave, I reckon they stay cleaner.

I'm just coming onto second cleans now, and they barely look worth cleaning.
I did my own windows 3 weeks ago and they're still almost perfect.

I suppose for you being near the coast they'll get dust and salt on them however they're cleaned. :-\

New work coming in at an alarming rate. I'm working 8 hours a day, and still one week behind.
When this has happened in the past, I have passed estates over to other shiners, just charging them the first wipe. I have now decided to do things differently.
Cull all the bad, payers and not this month brigade. A hefty price rise may thin my round out a bit too. Still have too many under priced, long standing customers. Dai
