toilets
« on: April 30, 2007, 10:24:03 pm »
Can someone please help with a bit of advice, I have just got my first commercial contract the company has been without a cleaner for a couple of weeks. It is a busy metal fabrication  workshop with all the usual workshop grime, oil etc, the problem I have is the toilet seats or rather underneath the actual seats are ingrained with what I assume must be oil how I don't know. I have tried the usual loo cleaners and scrubbed away but nothing is shifting it...could it be permanantly marked now or is there hope?
many thanks

Oil underneath the seat?  How on earth!  :o

Do you mean the actual plastic/wooden seat?  If this is the case it probably has penetrated and you will not be able to remove the stain especially if it has been present for a time.  I would suggest using good old bleach to see if you can fade it but remember your H&S and make sure no other chemicals are present, also don't leave it on site.

The other option is to talk with the client about replacing the seats, tell them that if they replace them you will ensure that they stay clean, after all they hardly cost millions.

Found out tonight that it's not oil or grease but tiny bits of metal that have reacted with water etc and caused spotting. Will try green scourer.
