im thinking of converting my single 40" ro to a double ro so i can produce water faster on the job. will i get a significant % increase in my pure water output eg. 70% pure  to  30% waste.

it depends mostly on your water pressure, to be honest I would never run an ro at 70%pure, I'd recommend no more than 50%.  If you have good pressure though the output will roughly double.

as jm123 said you need very good pressure or the r/o s  are prone to clogging up i would stick to one and increase your pressure with an  12 volt 75 psi by pass pump but it would need to be fitted correctly into an electric cut of switch as they do not posses a pressure switch

sair's right, thats a good setup or you could feed the single ro from the clarke cem booster pump which I think has an inbuilt pressure switch or is at least variable.

I run my water from the outside tap through the filters into an IBC tank on a timer until it's full during the day. Come home from work and turn my 140litre a minute pump on which is connected to the IBC tank and force it through the 4040RO unit and polish off through a DI unit straight into the van. It doesn't take too long to fill up.
