Hi Guys

As you know I have just sold my envirodri E40, and i had a call for a new start that wanted one but did not have the budget for a new one and as they dont come up secondhand very often i was thinking about cheaper alternatives there are for all the expensive items that we use, for new starts.

I'll start with the cheaper alternative for the E40 for use with prespray

standard seep buffer from ebay used with a bonnet?

There are also a few rotowash machines going cheap on ebay which will do good for agitation.

the rotowashs are too heavy, the only alternative I can think of is the Duo or klansman (sp).

but a rotary should be the first alternative, a much more versatile piece of kit.

What about the potential pile damage to cut pile using a rotary, brushes or pads?
I`m new to rotarys but have read that the carpet manufacturers don't recommend this method.
The cimax claims to have no problems with cut pile.
Whats your thoughts?.

Mike the rotowash machines are actually far lighter than the envirodri 40 so are fine for agitation and do a good job.
A rotary machine will clean more than agitate and is not the perfect tool as you really need a dual contraflow brush system

B&Q do a pump up sprayer for fence panels for about £13! It has a pressure gauge on it and a fan nozzle that's adjustable.

Whilst it probably wouldn't last a long time it'd be ideal for someone just starting.

I have little success with cheap or expensive pump up spayers.

I did buy a £9.99 electic spayer from Netto.

I use my rotowash for aggitation. It only comes out for the really trashed stuff that the scrubba struggles on. I can only compare it with a duo and the numatic rotary, and it blows spots off both of those.
