Hi guys, Done a quote today for a lady h/s/l it was a wool tufted carpet, cream colour with a hessian backing what precautions would you suggest using obviously it could shrink if i over wet it but im also worried about cellulousic browning should i rinse with an acidic rinse to be on the safe side not sure why im asking these questions really sure i have done these before and know what im doing. Just want to double check ill be doing the right thing.

As long as you don`t over wet in you should be fine, you're only gonna get problems if you wet through to the backing.  Did a short pile nylon with a hessian backing the other week in a church using HWE, no problems at all.

You should be able to tell by looking at the base of the pile if there is an adhesive there (which there normally is) which will be waterproof and if so clean as normal. Hessian backing is not uncommon.
