Raising Public Awareness
« on: March 26, 2007, 08:29:47 am »
Hi Guys

I had my thinking cap on and would like your views on an idea.

One very big reason that carpet cleaning is not high on people spend lists is awareness.

I sure you all read you local papers and have seen businesses that sponsor or do some kind of stunt to raise awareness about their company or message.

where would virgin be without RB's stunts?

Anyway, what would be a good way to do this?

If you have watched the Richard and Judy video you will know that they make a comparison between the streets and carpets. and that streets are cleaner than carpets. they ask if you dropped your biscuit on the carpet would you then eat it? or what about on the street?

If you linked this local council on our side and show though the message that they are doing a great job keeping our streets clean.

One idea might be to raise money for charity that involved some kind of stunt on your local town streets? approved by the council?

what do you think?

Respect

just come up with an idea for a stunt, how about getting two sheep one  dirty and one clean, call them before and after. to point out the dust hazard of hard floors and the benefits off wool carpets? link it to local animal charity and using woolsafe operators.

Mcd's use the Ronald to get kids to pull their mums and dad into their restaurants. kids love animals.

Not sure I agree with you, CC is something that can be easily put off until another day, it's a bit of a luxury expense.

That's why our cancel rate is higher, you wouldn't cancel an Electrician if you had no Electric or a Plumber if your pipes had burst!

Most people are aware of CC but it's probably right down there at the bottom of the list of things that need urgently doing. :(

Not sure I agree with the street cleaner over a carpet but thats not the issue.

Yes raising awareness is a big area possibley too much for a small cleaning company to fund in time and money.  I agree cleaning is reactive to a problem and mainly for those who can afford it.  How many of us paint our own houses or cut our own grass.  Why because we cant or dont want to spend the money in emloying someone to do it.

Most of our customers have kids.  So offer to clean the local primary school for free to maintain a HIE but only if you can be guaranteed free local press from a newspaper.

I find people aren't keen on having carpets cleaned due to bad experiences with splach n dash,  usually carpets that are still wet for hours after the money has been paid  :-X  I got a leaflet through today with just a mobile number..  sofas FROM £17, rooms FROM £9.50..

I think thats an important point, my site and a lot of my marketing goes on raising the public awareness about this type of leaflet marketing, my web site has a public information page on this very issue and is very popular.

The enquiries that come from this will then be better informed and ready to buy.

if you have a problem in your area with lots of those type of leaflets and cleaners, check out my blog as i have a a3 leaflet that informs prospects about choosing carpet cleaners. I have not used it, i wrote it as an idea and if i ever have this problem in my area.

If I did I would run my A3 and its important that its this size on the same weeks as the splash and dash. this would have two effects, one, give the splash and dash the hump. and two, give choose to prospects and educate them that low price is not the way to go, and that carpet cleaning can not be judged on price only.

PS it on the first page on my blob scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the link to page one.
