Vauxhall Combo?
« on: March 20, 2007, 07:28:29 pm »
Hi folks.

I'm struggling to find a van.
It's starting to annoy me now.
I've got around about £550, but they seem to be £150 rubbish, or £900 good ones.
Seems to be nothing in between... :-\

However, I've found a Vauxhall Combo (High roof Corsavan) quite local, at £595.

I'm concerned it might not fit a 400L tank in though. (not full, don't worry about payload)

Does anyone know if it will fit? Preferably sideways obviously.

Cheers, Rog.

Hi
I have a friend in the same village and he has 2 vauxhall combo vans an 'S' & 'T' plate and he has a 400l upright tank in 1 and a 400l flat tank in the other. Never brim fills them as they would be over weight.

Rog i had one of these vans about 5 years ago, good decent vehicle with a nice amount of room in it and you can get more stuff into one of these than you can in to an escort, and they come with different payload versions, they also have a nice little storage cupboard above your head to hide your stash in.
The ls versions are the best equiped models.

Some combos can take 748 kg (the 775 version)  the others are about 550. So if it is a combo 775 it might well be worth a good look so far as carrying the weight etc, as for whether your tank will fit I think a tape measure will be needed. I think a 400 litre one would fit having looked at the measurements on the web but check first.

Hi Rog,
I have a combo 775 kg epic van, it has a 400ltr flat tank, merlin ro, di can, 100 mtr micro bore, 25 ft & 12 ft predator, step ladders, ladders, trad gear and me (80kgs). I have had it all on a weigh bridge with 350 ltr water and it comes in at 663kg.

Hope this helps. It carrys a lot more than an astra van as I used to have one and it was only good for 250 ltr.

Cheers Jason

Rog.  You may already be aware of this but you can check payloads/sizes etc at www.whatvan.co.uk  .
It may help you make a decision.

Rog

I think what you will have to do is take a tape measure with you and measure the van when you look at them to see if they will go in.

Escort or astra though will take a 400 ltr tank
I think a vauxhall combo will also as ian lancaster picked up his 1000ltr IBC container in his just

My mate just got one for £650. 400 litre tank. Fills  nearly all of it. Not a prob. Loads of space and the pole go through a hole in the wire bulkhead so he keeps them in the van even though its short. Good van for 600 ish.
