they are handy in that its an instant reading,but the external tds meters (the one that looks like a thermometer that you dip into the water)gives a more accurate reading.

They are very handy.
Mine reads exactly the same as my hand held one, and has for a year and half.

Pat I had that very model - it was very accurate and always agreed with the handheld.
