Newbie wanting to learn wfp
« on: March 05, 2007, 04:09:45 pm »
Hi

A few months ago I was made redundant and had every intention of setting myself up a small cleaning service e.g.  Patio & Driveway cleaning, Upvc cleaning, Conservatory’s gutters etc. trouble being the start of autumn not really a good time to start.

Anyway spring is only around the corner and was planning to get started.

But!!

Since joining the forum I’ve found all this new and wonderful window cleaning technology RO, DI, WFP This has sort of side tracked me a little has I really think this could be a good investment. Luckily I’m in a position to invest in some equipment but obviously want to make sure I spend wisely. I’ve notice there are some suppliers around on the forum and no doubt all have good reputations and willing to demonstrate there products.....Something I will be looking into soon.

So here’s what I think may be a good starting point. I thought it would be a good idea to spend a day or 2 with somebody out in the field. Somebody with impartial advice and hands on experience with their own set up. Obviously someone not in the same area as me but I would be willing to travel a little.

So if anyone could stand a newbie asking what’s that for? what does that do?  why are you doing that ? how does that work? all day long then I’d be willing to be your hard grafting go-fer for the day. In return you would get the pleasure of my company :o and not to mention the obligatory bottle or 2 of the strong stuff.  ;D

Hope this doesn’t sound too cheeky but thought it could be worth a try.

Many Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne.
Welcome to the forum.

Try posting this on the main Window Cleaning Issues section.
You'll get a response there. ;)
To be honest hardly anyone reads this section.

I was just bored...

Thanks squeaky

I did notice a thread with similar post after I'd posted this one. will redirect it to there. Thanks for the advice.

Been reading a lot of post on the forum, many late nights so much to catch up on. Sorry to hear about you’re accident hope you're on the mend.

This was the very reason why I think this system is the way forward, obviously I know sod all about this industry compared to people like yourself but, it's a well know fact the we British have a real tendency to dislike change but eventually we do change and it's the people who embrace that change at the outset that reap the rewards.

Only my opinion Squeaky, please don’t read this as any kind of lecture or advice you are an experienced pro and know a hell of a lot more about window cleaning than I do.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the offer, would love to tag along for a couple of days so long as we don’t talk about Utd v Bolton match :-[

I went to the NEC last week to eye up some of the systems but came away not really picking up any more info than I’d already researched. I definitely think a couple of days out in the real world would finally make me put my hand in my pocket and get myself up and running.

Email me or PM me with contact info and where you are based in M/C and I’ll give you a bell.

Thanks Mick, really appreciated.

Hi John

Sorry John I missed your first post.

Would love to spend a day with you in Bolton.

Not sure yet if I will be available on the 2nd I will know more by Friday but definitely the 1st and 3rd April if that’s not too much of a problem. Some people would say I would be a FOOL to go in a cherry picker on the 1st but I'm sure you know what you are doing.

I spent the day on domestic cleans with Mike last week and alleviated any doubts I had about investing. What a great guy!!
A bit on the commercial side would no doubt give me more confidence.

Can ring or email you Tuesday or give me a shout at wayne.larkman@ntlworld.com  07944 636128

Cheers
Wayne
