Two questions regarding pole and RO
« on: March 03, 2007, 09:14:59 pm »
Planning to get a DIY WFP system, just had two questions.

How fast can I fill a 350ltr tank with a 100GPD RO Unit?

And would it be possible to a 25ft Predator pole also for ground floor windows? (I want to keep the cost down as much as possible for now) (I know you can, but how awkward/easy is it)

Thank you! :)

Well a 330 GPD RO Man system takes about 24 hours to fill a 1000L tank so in your case going on ratios it shold be about 24 hours to fill your 350L tank.
I use a 24 Foot preditor to do ground floor. Its not ideal in tight situations but light enough to use.

Uhm, so a 100Gpd wouldn't be good enough for a vehicle based RO system? I need one capable of hooking up after I'm done work, and be ready next thing in the morning.  :)

If you want to fill a 350 tank overnight a 100 gpd RO is useless.

You will do well to get 200 to 250 ltrs every 24 hrs out of it.

I have a 300gpd one filling a static 1000 ltr tank now instead of using my 40 inch RO system and it does that in approx 24 hours.

If you want to fill it overnight go for a 300gpd one.

With this colder weather I'm getting  360 ltrs per 24 hours out of a 200gpd set up with 60psi and starting tds of 220 so if you equal those figures on a 100 gpd it would take 2 days to fill the tank

How on earth do people use Vehicle based RO systems then? I don't get it lol.

I went for a 300gpd. The reason was a lot on here got a smaller RO & seemed to be upgrading them. For what its worth i reckon go for a 300gpd, at least then you know you always have water & dont have the grief of upgrading.

How are you getting on with that? Do you have a storage tank, or is everything in Van so to speak? If so, how long does it take you?

Spot on, i have a 650ltr holding tank & transfer what i need.

My mains presure is 75 so i dont need a booster pump, if i empty it in the evening  its always full when i get home next day. I only use on avarage 200- 300ltr a day max so its always full.

Its all in a shed,

Sounds good, so with a 300Gpd unit, I should be fine for overnight filling.

Yea, thing is, I do have access to a garage now, since I still live at home, but I'm moving out in the near future.....so that might be a bit difficult if I don't have a shed/garden etc. Just planning for the future really. :)

Are you moving far from home, because if your still local see if you can keep it running at home if its tight for space or not possible at your home.

Is all your work where you are now or where your moving. If your work is where you are now at least your in the area.

These problems can all be solved  ;D.

Good choice on 300Gpd, it will produce more than enough & no upgrade hassel later.  ;)

I am using the 300gpd unit from Pure Freedom. Dont forget you will need a DI to polish off after the RO.

Have a look at it here http://www.freedomwfp.co.uk/waterpure.htm#

Very reasonably priced and  does the job gr8 for me :)

Get a merlin, you can have it vehicle based and will fill your tank in a few hours.
I'm sure someone on here with one will give you more accurate figures.

I'm sure hoping someone will. Isn't a Merlin faster, but the TDS is higher? Anyway, it's too expensive for me at the moment.

A quick look on ROman site and a 300gpd costs £265 and a Merlin £282 so not a lot in it, but yes the tds may come out higher

there's no decision to be made, the merlin wins hands down. Ok so the tds is a little higher but get yourself a reconditiooned di vessel from cleantech and you're laughing.  I run a merlin myself, there are also a number of local wcers    filling up from my static tanks, all in probably 3500 - 4000ltrs of product being produced each week.  The merlin is a year old, prefilter is changed every 19000ltrs (inlet), inlet pressure only 40psi and inlet tds all over the place (was 342ppm 3 weeks ago, last week 92ppm) water comes out at 4ppm regardless.  A truly brilliant system for the money.
