Cutting Away Bristle/D.I.Y. Project
« on: February 24, 2007, 08:25:00 am »

Can anyone recommend or tell me a good clean and neat way of cutting out
The brush bristles when ya making up a brush when ya having your jets with
A thru` the brush / bristle `feed`.I`ve made a few now and used scissors,Stanley
Knifes, craft knives and have yet to achieve a really good neat finish.Something
Similier to the ready made up Vikan brushes that the leading manufacturers like
Brodex `turn out` etc. After finding the best ( my opinion) brush to date and jets
From B@Q I don`t want to scimp out on a quality finish if I can help it.Thanks
In advance for replies.

I did as Chris..... Grab em with pliers and pull the bunch out then drill from the bristle side through the hole where the bristles came from.

Whats the best brush for you Lewis?

I just use bull nose pliers and as john says drill from where you pull the bristles out.

I use pliers too. If for any reason you can't, tidy them up with a soldering iron. Dai

It seems like pliers is `the way to go`.I`ll give it a try.John, the brush I`m
Using is the same one as Phil. Bowen`s,in his  `thread` `My fishing pole
Thingy`. It`s a plastic backed `Bentley brush from the Tesco`s stores.
They will I feel be excellent working with fishing poles particulay at
Shallow angles where there`s more arm and shoulder strain.

pair of pliers - grip at the bottom of the bristles and twist against the backing plate to lever the bristles out.

Better still,(even better situation than the B@Q jets) go to your local compressed air/
Water/gas fittings(John Guest etc) explain what your doing and like my own did (Air
Force Nr.Leeds) they will if your lucky and they stock them will fix you up accordingly.Too difficult to explain in an e,mail.
