Just wondering what the maximum length of 1.5 " whip hose is ideal for using on t/m?

I currently use 7.5 m but could do with a bit more, esp when up and down flats and three storey houses.

Will there be a drastic loss in air flow if i add another 7.5m  of 1.5"or should i stick to  the 2"?

I use 15ft of 1.5 inch don't have a massive drop in suction,  but I use a prowler and that does'nt have a huge vac tank so not sure if it's the same as standard TM's. Find it make the job easier in homes.

I will have to agree with Glyn 1.5 is no longer the standard, although I still use it  but soon to go over to 2" with the first 50ft from machine being 2.5" with two down to one from the waste tank the americans cant get enough of it, just got to source the parts cant remember the max cfm down each size of pipe but im sure somebody does

if your going 2.5 inch they  hose inside the machine would have to be at least that as well ? otherwise would you see any more cfm?

I still think it's necessary to have the 1.5 for stairs and upholstery and around tight furniture in peoples homes, the 2" isn't flexible enough and will restrict your movement.

And 2.5 will make a big difference on the hose reel, i already have 200 ft on mine so would'nt manage the bigger stuff.

I use a 10 ft whip hose.

I find that works well for me.

i run 25ft whip, i know most TMers will advise less, but with my 4  blower the wand still sticks to the floor more than any twin vac portable.

you can get flexible 2" hose, one source is woodbridge, theirs is grey, it's like anything else, it might take a little while to get used to it but when you do, you wonder why you didn't use it earlier. i think the difference in vacuum is substantial. the standard blue stuff is far too stiff and hard work to use, only good for after the flexible hose.

If your blower port has a internal diameter of less than 2.5 inchs is there really any actual gain in using 2.5inch hoses?

Funny you should bring that up a few years ago on a caravan holiday talking a Belgium chap, who had the same motor as me talked about Watts, I was more into cubic capacity and bhp.

Air Watts are Lift x CFM divided by 8.5, if you increase airflow (CFM) the lift will decrease (hg) and vice versa, so you need a happy medium = Air Watts, so when you take Velocity into account you will end up with Velocity (FPM) = Air Flow (CFM) divided by tube area (sq. ft.). so increase the size of your vac hose and you will gain in Air Watts or something like that simple realy

For carpets 2inch all the way.  For stairs Ive a 2ft whip as with suites.

For those really tight areas or three levels of HSL then i'll use the 25ft hose from my portable.

It does make a difference more so in drying.
