Van and RO System set up
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:19:39 pm »
Here is my van mount DIY  ;D 650L tank, 100 psi pump, varistream mk2. The frame was welded by a mate of mine at a cost of £165 and is bolted through the chassis with spreader plates.I then cleaned it and sprayed it with Hammerite. The floor has been painted with protekta kote. The van floor slopes from back to front, which means that I manage to use nearly all the water in the tank.

The van is a Fiat Scudo 2.0 JTD with a 925kg payload.

The R.O. is a 300gpd unit with the RO Man booster pump.

Yep very nice. Did you have to drop the fuel tank to bolt through the floor?

I picked up my Dispatch today (silver) and still have not figured how I'm going to mount my 650ltr flat tank. My current plan is to bolt angle iron to the floor with plates or a bar underneath then strap to welded eyes or round eyed bolts through that. The front mounting position looks like it will align with the fuel tank though, so I may need to drop the tank. Your cage looks neat if a little permanent. I had origionally intended to use haulage strength ratchet straps then I could remove the tank quickly if required.

Nice set up, but tell me if I'm wrong I think your pump is up the wrong way. I think or have I got it wrong as my pump is the other way round with the feeds at the bottom. ????

Steve,

Alright mate! Pole is brilliant! Probably the best one I have ever had, really enjoy using it. BTW, I was actually in the middle of tidying the garage up - work in progress.  ;)

Easy,

Sorry which connection do you mean? Coming out or going into the ibc tank?

Peter,

No, mine is correct, but so is yours! Bought the pump of my mate who sells them. He put the hoses on the same way as yours but it wouldn't work so swapped them around and Hey Presto!

I used to have an ancient Escort van without a bulkhead.  I did exactly as you describe but with an Unger extension pole rather than a ladder.  The windscreen crack became yet another Item I was saving until the next MOT to see if it was worth keeping the van.  I never did get around to replacing the screen because the van fell to bits before the MOT date arrived.

I was refering to the predator, at the time. Now I have a c/f faclift pole, so it doesn't compare  ;D

If the van floor slopes from back to front, what happens if the tank leaks?
I know the floor is protected, but won't the water end up in the passenger area?
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.

No there is a small full width bulkhead approx 6-8 " high, with a small hole drilled on the passeger and driver side for it to run out.
