Trailer Security
« on: January 23, 2007, 11:26:04 am »
For the guy's who have Trailers and need some sort of security?
I have nothing to chain my trailer to, so I made this security post just for the Job. made from box steel, plate steel for the tow hitch, I'm lucky enough to own my own welder, if you don't, you can have one welded for you at a very reasonable cost. mine cost £6 to make
I used an old tow hitch I had laying around in my workshop, bolted it to the steel plate and then I welded the bolts so they can't be undone with a spanner.
I also added a steel loop for a chain to go through if I want, if you do use a chain, then buy the hardened steel chain, more expensive, but they can't be cut with bolt crops, but can with a disk cutter.
it will be concreted 2' into the ground, the trailer will be hitched to it, and a hitch lock fitted. I will be fitting a car alarm to it, that will be activate by a mercury tilt switch.
When the alarm system is finished I will publish pictures and and instructions on fitting it.
