Less waste water

How does one go about getting less waste water.
I was told you could run multiple membranes inline and that would do that.
I have the opportunity to buy several 24" membranes that are said to produce 300 gallons per day. If I put 3 or 4 in line will that give me 900-1200 gallons per day.
What types of things do I need to keep in mind when putting units inline like this? Does waste water come out of each membrane or only the last one?
Thanks for helping me understand.

you can run them in side by side ( so all the waste water runs out to the drain )
or
you can run them in series so the waste from RO 1 goes into RO RO 2 then the waste from RO 2 goes into RO 3 etc etc , this method produces less waste BUT the further down the line the RO gets its doing more work as its cleaning dirty water
i think thats right anyways

If you are using hard borehole water, a pre water softner will help.

So I can take 2 24" and connect them end to end?
IF they are both 300 gallon a day then will it produce 600?
Am I better off just buying a 4040?
