Domestic W/C Seeking commercial
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:52:15 am »
Hi All

Often on here people state about trying to get commercial work, It is not the be all & end all its made out to be.

1,  It is far harder to get, time, effort  & financial investment

2,  Health & Safety requirements which not everybody has in place, m y initial cost was £1150 + vat now £500 + vat per annum.

3,   Keeping the work because there is somebody who will undercut then break h&s regs.

4,   Getting paid & invoicing.

5,   Taxman & vat

6,   Employees, ni & tax etc

7,   Cost will be far cheaper than trad.

All the above & probably more are things to take into consideration, now doing domestic you charge more, you get paid cash, investment is cheaper & work is out there waiting to be found.

One employee (Family member) left us & has set up on own, i helped get work, do van & even produced leafletts & delived them, he is now up to 80 to 100 customers & picking up new work everyday.

He charges more per window & earns £100+ a day, that is a semi retired bloke keeping busy before is pension comes . Better than £5.00+ an hour B&Q OR WHATEVER.

Just a few points to think about as now is the time to cold call or drop leafletts, to any new or up & coming W/C I did offer help to another member trying to start, who was unable to turn up at an arranged meeting leaving me waiting about 1 hour, this is how Den became interested in going it alone so i helped him & it has worked.

Hi Gaz

Not used it yet, but plan on soon.

Just thought i would bring up a couple topics because some on here state massive prices for jobs & you wont get them all the time especially around here.

Now is a good time to look for new work or get cards out.
