A quick question about mounting my pump
« on: January 18, 2007, 07:07:30 pm »
Before I go out and wire up my varistream and re-mount my pump in a different place, where should I mount it?

Below the outlet on my tank or above?

Mines mounted at the sme height as my headrest on the drivers seat - but I don't think it really matters.

Use gravity to help the pump, so below is better, so long as there is no risk of water getting into the motor due to leaks from the tank.

The only place I could mount it below the tank outlet would be on the side loading door step!

Do you think it would be ok there?

So long as there is no risk of tripping on it, or catching something on it and ripping it off.
You can put it above but priming will take a tad longer.

Cheers jeff,

Decision made! I will mount it on the bulk head beside the tank about a foot  up.

That should do the trick.

Just started fiddling around and trying to work out how & where to mount the pump???

I don't have a lot of room to play around with as i'm mounting it on the bulkhead beside the tank.

Can I position the pump as I have it in the second picture? (on its side?

(don't wory it wont be that squint! Had no one to take pic for me :'()

No joke mount it perfectly horizontal(both ways) with a plumb level when the vans loaded or the bearings will wear

Yes,
You can  mount them on a deck chair  8) with pvc tape and they will work.
Maybe put a shelf over it later to protect it but still remain accessible. Also wondering where the yellow pipes go. If you are using the yellow hose to suck water they will get hot in the summer and collapse inwards causing a vacuum that will stop the flow (ahh yes I just about remember a summer )

the yellow pipes go to my hose reel and the outlet at the bottom of my tank.

No probs then because the initial water surface level will be above the pump inlet and will create a push and then a syphon effect once started and self prime as well.
But they will also suck at least 3ft up.

yes, I'm finished!!

I power it from my 12v battery. I have a lead with clips on and a plug on the other end & I plug it into the white socket mounted on the bulkhead.

Matt,

How do you wire the varistream ? I only have a 100psi pump at the mo but looking to add one to my system. Where is the best place to get one from?

Thanks Jason
