I did for a while before my car got pinched with the carpet cleaner inside & found out I wasn't covered.

I found CC very hard work & didn't find it any more lucrative. Others may disagree but I never really liked doing it. Just because you have a pro bit of kit people expected you could remove all sorts of stains including ones that had been there for donkeys years.

Not for me!!

I was thinking about CC but as the same reason above from what i've read it doesn't seem as lucrative and lets face it, its a peice of cake to clean windows, not bogged down trying to clean a really dirty carpet or sofa.

I would like to take some training coruses in it though and see what its all about before i thought of taking the plunge

ive been window cleaning for 18 years, started carpet cleaning nearly 2 years ago its hard work carpet cleaning at the start but after 2 years things are starting to come good. The first thing is to get some training and then buy a decent machine its quite easy cleaning carpets but you need to put the time in. darren.

I have done carpet cleaning but it was years ago.
I was thinking last year of starting it back up as an add on to my window cleaning.
But i don't have any time now ive got to much window cleaning work.

Also its harder getting work for carpet cleaning and you need constant advertising and need to put loads of leaflets out weekly.
Maybe once you have been carpet cleaning a few years you could probably do away with leafleting.
But its a lot of work and im sure i earn as much as a lot of carpet cleaners anyway without having to go mad with advertising.

I clean windows & carpets over the year I can average 50/50 split-thats because I live in an area with low population so you have to diversify to earn a living-however I have been on the CC courses & it was worth the outlay both for the courses & equipment-CC proves a better earner I can earn as much in a morning CC as I can working all day on windows, however its nice to have a change from one to the other.

ive been cleaninmg carpets for yonks now

if you do a lot of commercial window cleaning and thenm take a few course, get good gear and tell your window cleaning clients, you will get new work that you can do when its freezing or rainging.

seems like commen sense to me.

i have done both windows and carpets for 2 years now, if you are good carpets pay better but need a lot more effort to get work most of mine comes from refferels and window customers doing it properly is the way to go.I am no longer looking for domestic window cleaning customers only commercial now so i can put more effort into the carpet cleaning as it can be very satisfying

after a fall im going to try window cleaning again, there are alot of bungalows and single storey propertys in my area and with this area being small having both carpets & windows hopfully will work out for me, there is more money in carpets but with the windows u have the monthly wages every month.

I do both - what got me into it was I used to clean the windows of a carpet cleaner who used to go out at 9am and be back for dinner at 1pm with £150 plus in his pocket , me I had just done a few houses more up his street and earned about £60  :o

I tagged along with him for a while for free and he showed me the roaps as it were , and went on a few courses , got a good machine ( you need to spend aproxx £2000 on a new  one) and off i went .

Ive now got a nice 50/50  split with both , I dont need to spend lots on the advertising as I have the windows to fall back on - unlike the  stand alone carpet cleaners  .

also the cost of the chemicals to clean the carpets etc is pretty cheap per job once you have paid for the machine. - less than resin, water etc on wfp I think .

In my view its the best thing I did to earn more money - well apart from uvpc cleaning that is  ;D

There is definitely good money in carpet and uphostery cleaning. My friend has been at it for about six years and is only really now getting established. It does take a long time and a lot of work to get started.
But the good side is he charges £75 to do a three piece suite and it tkes him an hour and a half. Fifty quid an hour, thats not bad.
The other problem is moving furniture, lots of issues around do you or don't you.

£75 for a suite far too cheep should be looking at from £130 up to £200!
Theres no chance you can clean them in 1.5 hours you need to be looking at 3hrs.
