Cleaning Window Film Tint
« on: July 10, 2004, 12:02:23 pm »
Whats the best way of cleaning large panes with exterior window film thats been applied?
I do an office complex where the owners have had the film installed recently.
On other jobs the film has been on the inside of the glass and I find its so very easy to leave
fine hairline scratches.I`m thinking that after one and two months dirt and dust there could
be major problems.Has anyone on the group had any problems at all with window film, wether
it be inside or out? Comments and experiences much appreciated.

I agree with Terry, try not to use scrims on them as they seem to mark up more. Haven't come across this film on outside glass though.

Hi Lewis,
I have been fitting films for 16 years and when I came to Spain I diversed into window cleaning, thats another story, anyway it sounds like the film that has been used probably has not got a scratch resistant coating,Some coatings break down on the outside, due to the sun . Not much you can do really but clean as normal. You would find that just about all films fitted internaly would have a scratch resistant coating, therefore when you clean them there is not a problem with scratches.
