pictures for websites
« on: January 06, 2007, 08:22:59 pm »
Hi guys and girls,
i was wondering if you someone could shed some light on websites. What i want to know at the moment is how do you go about getting pics etc because surely you cant just search the web and just copy and paste some random pictures into your site so how do you go about getting them legally?
regards matt

i've been told that copyrights are so MASSIVELY infringed on the web regarding pictures, that if you use some ones pics for say just little thumb nails thats really nowt to worry about. its meant to be so big and wide spread thats the theres no way of enforcing the law with regards to it, theres just to much going on.

this just what i was told by a customer who had somthing to do with internet law blahh..  im not saying do it.

Craig

PS Prochem will give you advertising images FREE if you ask them, but they'll do want you to sign a form to use there prochem logo saying your make it clear your not an agent for them, (just got put it in small print below logo)

Why dont you take pictures of work you have done yourself? Why would you want to nick someone elses? Best, Dave.

There are also other sites where you ca pay for the use of the picture, like customers pay you to clean their carpets.

carpet cleaners use picture to fill space which is wrong, like with leaflets, a picture must serve a purpose. So its best to take your own pictures and put a caption underneath explaining it.

this is hard to do if you've nicked the picture of someone else's website, if you carry a digital camera for a week you'll come across lots of photo opportunities. the people who read your website are not photo critics who will be analysing the composition & layout of your pictures they just want an informative picture which tells them something.

take your own

Liahona,
I was looking at your 'Celebrity Client list' on your webpage, have you really cleaned for all those Celeb's ??? or  are you just using there names to promote your website :-[
                                    Regards,

Fletch, I find it odd that you would ask the question but in answer yes I have. To use theirs or anyones name when I hadnt cleaned for them is not only a lie but the legal ramifications are business destroying. The list is so small as for some of the people I work for I am not alowed to use their names and if I did as I had a signed agreement that I didnt use their names then they could and I am sure would prosecute. Best, Dave. On the same note, the mentioned clients are aware of their inclusion and in some but not all cases sign on the dotted accordingly...............

Could use them in an intro to grab attention ;D....just take them from google images...thats what I do...as my host said...unless youre a world famous website, nobody will ever know, never mind give a d**n...All you gotta do is remove them if someone complains..I had a adult website called" Adult toys R Us"....and sure enough, "Toys R US"  lawyers were on the phone to me a month later....dropped the website...no further action...Dont worry...plead ignorance like i did.
