All I'm asking is am I doing something wrong if not is it worth persaveering, or worth trying GG4 even if I know I am in soft water area? Is there anything else to discuss? Hi CS
The search button is a wonderful thing, I've cobbled something together for you from some previous posts on GG3 . . .

Nah, there's no great mystery - use GG3 or 4 with clean water and you won't need to use V*****r, or F**** L***** promise!
Whaddya mean you don't know what GG3 or GG4 is? Do a search or just go to
http://www.titanlabs.net/gg3.htm and find out all about it. 3 is for soft water areas and 4 is for hard.
to avoid squeege marks
Use fresh rubber - I've heard of some folk on these boards going through three sides per day. If you persevere with a rubber after YOU notice it's leaving marks, just consider how long it would take to swap a new blade over against the extra time it takes to scrim/microfibre over the marks. Trust me - it's cheaper to swap over, especially if you can buy one yard of pulex for £1 +vat.
If you do start to use GG3/4 you might want to use a slightly shorter squeegee blade as you need a lighter touch.

I use 10-15ml per gallon and I find it great. You do get used to the lack of suds which is a bonus really - there's nothing to mop up at all on some jobs. I went back to washing up liquid for a day a couple of months ago and really hated it. It took so long in comparison.

My brother and I run a family orientated business in South West Scotland (Ayr,Prestwick) and for the last 9 years have used fairy liquid in our water.
Having read the messages on this site over the last few months we decided to give GG3 (soft water area) a go.
I have to admit that the results have been remarkable.
There is no way back for us now, less detailing, less mopping, less drag and all in all an easier way of cleaning windows.
What worries me is the amount of (working) time we have wasted over the last decade.

To be honest, I really hated GG3 when I first used it and it was only because of other window cleaner's comments on this forum that made me buy a large bottle full and persevere.
I'm really glad I did as I tried using Fairy again for half a day early on in December and I HATED it! It was messy, slow and I used loads of scrims.
If you are starting out with it, slow down a little when you're squeegeeing. In no time you'll love it......honest!

Done another day with gg4 in soft water area and had no problems. I`ve used it for a few weeks now and everything ok. I keep expecting the old problems to resurface but changing my rubber regularly does the trick.
I don`t know if it would work the other way round -GG3 in hard water area.Don`t suppose you`d but it though when gg4 is cheaper .

I bought gg4 thinking I was in a hard water area but since found its soft. After months of problems I find it works great now (rubber needed changing . So I do think you could use it. I would be interested if anyone knows different and that I`d be better off with GG3.

Don't wipe the blade. I used to (as I was taught), but I have since found that there is no real advantage to this. Especially with GG3/GG4 it only hinders you.
Cut out the wiping and you'll save time. Just apply soap solution, squeegee off and then detail with a scrim or huck towel. Following this, I wipe the sill off with a small hand towel.
I hope that this helps.

Sorry guys I am still on the fairy,I have used GG3
coustomers said I was out of bubbles they were not happy!

I do find though, that after using GG3, when I go back to my houses after a month they are still quite clean.
I don't know if this is a good thing or not. It's good for me as there's less work, but I hope that my customers don't notice!

As a GG3 user for the past five(ish) months, I decided to have a day back on the Fairy.
Going back to washing up liquid after getting used to GG3 was a nightmare. I found it messy to use with loads of mopping up and much slower. I found that the suds got in the way and I couldn't see caked-on bits easily.
Today I was back using GG3 and it was so easy, no mess and less detailing. It took some getting used to at first but I'll never go back.
