Ro unit over the holidays
« on: December 21, 2006, 11:45:01 pm »
Whats the best way to leave my RO over the holidays?

1) Drain it
2) Turn it off and leave it
3) Shut off at inlet and out to leave under pressure.
4) Any other

Your thoughts please ;D

Shut off the inlet water and switch off the pump if there is one.  MOST IMPORTANT: make sure its protected from frost

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks Ian,
That is how I leave it over the weekend but won't have left it any longer than 2 days up till now and wondered if anything else needed doing for extended periods of inactivity :)

Left mine for 3 weeks in Oct/Nov when we went on holiday to South Africa. Simply left it full of water with the inlet and outlet pipe/s tied up above the R/O unit so the membranes remained full of water. No problems when we came back. The advise is to ensure it's protected from the frost as has been stated many times here.
