Hi all, as a newbie I have just purchased a CFR hand tool along with a detailing tool and I am having problems with the spray from the jets. I think the problem is that the jet in the incorrect one for the tool as I am getting "flooding" on each the edges.
Can anyone describe in detail what the numbers and letters on the jets mean I am led to believe that the last two digits such as 02 is the size of the jet and gives a fine mist but what are the other identification numbers?

Lastly, what type of jet should be in a CRF hand tool, I have H1 / 8D1 marked on the top of the jet and on the bottom is 9502 and the nozzle has a red band around it?
Can anyone please a detailed explanation?

its the  9502 bit that means something.

It = 95 is the degrees of spray angle and the 02 is flow per min.

Keith,

CFR supply 4 different interchangeable jets for use with their 3 inch handtool.

6501 - red band- 
6502 - blue
6503 - yellow
6504 - green

As the size of the orifice goes up from 01 to 04 so the amount of solution delivered increases. This allows you much better control over dry times and you can choose the most appropriate jet for the fabric to be cleaned.

I use all 4 jets and I have not experienced any problems of water escaping from the sides of the handtool. One of the major benefits of this tool is that there is no overspray or overwetting of the fabric.


The only two other alternative I can think of is

1. The vacuum side of your system is not recovering the solution well enough

2. Or possibly you were cleaning a non absorbent fabric like some of the mock suedes. They can repel the solution causing the flooding you describe.

What machine, vacs, pump are you using?

the 5inch head come with a jet that has a red band, this jet sprays wider to accommodate the width of the 5inch head, perhaps they has sent you the wrong 'red' jet

To add to the other posts here Keith, the 95^o fan is for the 5" head. The 3" head should have a 65^o fan. The colour coding on my jets are as Nigel has stated.

I frequently use my 95 jets with the 3" head and have never had a problem such as you have described either at 100, 200 or 300psi.  Are you trying to use your full 450psi?

I thought the optimum performance psi for the CFR hand tool was 300psi or is that just with the CFR machine?

Hi all,
Firstly thanks to all for the great response It's great to feel that there is always someone out there willing to help when in doubt.
As a newbie I have seen a CFR tool on a course I recently attended and it didn't perform like the one I have. I think you are right gents it makes sense now when you are talking about the degrees of spray, I do have a 3" CFR tool (note I said CRF) and I will be talking to the supplier for help on this tomorrow.
Hi Ken, I tried the tool at different pressures from 200 up to 400 and it didn't make any significant difference.
Please note I held the tool over a bucket to see what the jet of spray was like and not on fabric maybe it was that?

I phoned CFR today to get some correct jets for my 5 inch CFR tool and was told that they only make ONE jet for the 5 inch head ?

Its a red band, so i assume its an 01 jet ?  ( not got it yet)

I asked if they do the    02,   03,   or   04,  jets for the 5 inch head and was told that they didnt ?

Just wanted to check that I was given the correct information by the  lady  at CFR today ? 

Have you got a 9502 or 9503 or 9504 jet for your 5 inch CFR tool ?
