I use one everyday just for detailing, Never actually tried to clean a whole window with one though

Yep, swab, leather and scrim. Still the best for dirty industrial jobs. If you can't use these then you ain't a proper window cleaner.........scarpers

I LOVE the slimy feel and KJG has convinced me...from here on in it's hanging out my back pocket....may never use it but it makes me look like an ol' timer

Simon, if you buy  new one it does need to be broken in a little and dont go for the cheap artifical ones as they are crap make sure its from something that was walking around once

I used to use shammies when i first became a window cleaner when i was 17 which was couple of years ago now.

They do a great job.

But the shammies now seem to be a load of rubbish compared to how they used to be.

Anyway they have died out over the year and you don't see anyone use them now

Nothing better than a good shammy leather. I used one for years but its in the garage now and gets used on the car.
Learn how to ring it out and then crack it. It looks good

Used it this morning...it's brilliant for detailing.  Gonna practise the "wring out and crack it" over the weekend.  Ladders, bucket, applicator, blade, shammy hanging out me back pocket and fAg hanging out me gob.....this is window cleaning. wfp boys eat yer hearts out

Simon, dont let it dry out completely if you can help it and dont let it sit on your dash board in the sun as when they get too dry they can crack and tear, if you look after a chamois it will last a long time

Oh! It looked a bit grubby so I bunged it in the wash then the tumble drier....

Got this feeling Pat is gonna say "Nooooooooooo".....

 Just  wash it with Fairy and water ,scrub it between your hands like they do in the old movies then wring it out
We changed  over to GG3 about ten years ago and the only downside i can find is that you cant get your chamois as clean Fairy just seems to work better

I used to just leave mine rotting away, all dirty and wet in a pouch until it went all slimy and stinky, and I chucked it out.

They're lovely new though.

Even if you can't use one, they're great for making 'squeek' noises on the glass thus convincing the punter you're doing a proper job
