Pics of my RO booster pump.
« on: December 10, 2006, 05:06:49 pm »
I have put to bed the idea of using my pressure washer as a Booster pump and connected the Booster pump I bought yesterday from Machine Mart. I have just got one leak to fix on the female outlet valve, second pic, Its weeping from the brass reducer joint I put on.

I know if I use a 1" connection and 1" hose going in I can increase the pressure and get better results. At present I will use my 1/2" hose because its set up for that.

I was getting a TDS reading of 9 last week with no Booster pump, its dropped now to 2 with the pump. I will switch on later tonight and see if the pressure is any better as I really want to get it to 0 TDS without resin.

If anyone is thinking of getting the pump from Machine Mart wait till January as you should be able to pick it up without the vat. I only found that out as I was haggling hard for a Discount.

Hi Neil

Can you adjust the output pressure?  If so what are the ranges?

Can you control the flow?

No to both of those questions JM.

I am going to have to see if I can make some adjustmants to my 10" filters to see if I can put a pressure gauge on them.

I will try over xmas to switch my 1/2" hose going into the pump to 1" to see if I can get my TDS down from 2 to 0.

How did you get your TDS to 2?? I have a 4040 RO with a booster and I can only get mine to go down to 3 but that is at the cost of increasing the waste to 2:1.

My waste is probably Similar to yours Bonzer.

I am in a soft water area so my TDS going in is about 90.

Its like the Holy Grail trying to get my Ro to get water down to 0 TDS.

I dont want to buy any Resin. I have just changed my Resin cannisters after 10 months of use. I want to get into 2008 before I do that again.

Wow Bonzer I am impressed from 360 to 3. Thats far better then mine. I got the Hump yesterday because I thought my booster pump would of easily got my TDS down to 0.

But my pressure is very poor from the tap.

What Bosster pump have you got?

Nel, make sure you set it up so that the water goes through the sediment and carbon filters BEFORE  the booster pump as the 10inch vessels are not pressure tested.

Are You certain about that JM?

I have connected my mains water straight to the pump and then my Booster pump to my 10" vessels. They dont leak.  But I will switch them over so the water goes through my 10" vessels before connecting to the pump. Then From the pump stright to my RO membrane.

Is this how all you other RO users have your pumps set up?

I will see if this manages to reduce my TDS below 2.

Nel. THANKS.
