advice please
« on: November 29, 2006, 05:52:58 pm »
I recently replaced a duff vac motor in my Extracta machine. Although it functions properly it is very noisy. Anyone got any ideas why?

Hi  Could be three reasons,

1 bearings on the way out ( when vac slows down more noticable)

2 fan blades full of debris causing a 'drone' noise, main cause using vacuum with
flter  removed on air intake.

3 high pitched noise caused by fan casing rubbing against fan as it spins.
poss cause overtightening mounting bolts

hope this helps

Did you replace the right one?  ;)

Sorry I don't mean to sound glib but it can happen when you turn the machine upside down you can become disorientated.

Alternatively could the other vacuum also be on the way out as well....I tended to replace both at the same time

a similar thing happened to my excel on a new motor and on inspection found the outer casing had come apart and was rubbing against the fans producing a very high pitched noise, once pushed together again i had no problem :D

so probably worth a look

Mine has just started to hint that bearings are on the way out. Any idea how long this will last?
