« on: November 27, 2006, 08:05:09 pm »
How much is this worth to buy?

A window cleaning business that is 2 years old
£90k turnover
Ionic pro 5 & Renault Master Van
Work is done by one person full time (4/5 days per week) and one person part time (2/3 days per week)
All commercial & 1 weekly office clean (3 hours)
Large area covered (Approx a 30 mile radius of Milton Keynes)

You will be asked;

Whats the gross &  net profit?

Are you selling or buying?

Are there contracts in place?

£35,000 if the van is fairly new.
£7,500 turover a month x 3.5 =£26,250 + £10k for van and system if good commercial work maybe a little more (£40,000)

Hi I think Robbie valuation is about right, but the 3times rule for rounds isnt applied on company sales this size. you look at the years profit not turnover. remember there will be substantial running costs on this work and at least a 7000 a year wage bill for the part timer.

Still 35000 or 40000 would be a good buy I would say.  Make sure the work is solid  either written contracts as suggested or you know the work. He is only been trading for 2 years so he might have found out he is loosing the biggest clients ot there is another problem

90k turnover
40k outgoings (operational costs)
50k Net profit
Gross profit is 50k minus tax

i thought this would be worth maybe 80k - 120k

Hi,I take it from the thread that youre buying the Business, not the work.
If this is the case why is it bieng sold?
Why hasnt the part time person bought it?
Whats the true state of the Accounts?
Has the VAT been paid?
(It must be VAT reg. because of the turnover)
Are there any Debts?
Any outstanding HP?
Lots of other Questions must be addressed before you even think about putting a bid in......

I would personally only buy the work and goodwill.NOT the company if it is one,as the new buyer is liable for all Debts against it.And then only under a written contract between yourself the seller and the people who he has contracted work for...if you see what I mean ??? ???

You Cheeky Chapie ;D like Youre style ;D ;D
As I said earlier,I would buy the work (cant afford to at the mo :'( :'( )
and now I know who it is most probally the van as well....
Hope you enjoy youre move to spain...I wouldnt live there...tooooooo  many English ;D ;D.

If I was you I would get a manager or someone I could trust and let them do the work and pass on a percentage back to you in spain(rent out the work)
I know this is not always possible to do as you will need cash to fund youre new lifestyle.....but just a thought ;) ;)

psssst.....would be interested in the above scenerio ;)

Hi

For whats its worth I have been in a similar situation and controlling  staff when not about is the biggest problem. Unless you have someone at the helm who has a vested intrest in the progression of the company it could suffer badly and  your company could end up being worth nothing.

Just a thought , why not offer your your F/T employee to buy into the company as a partner, then you have someone  who wants the company to be profitable and you still have an income ??

Regards

Having been involved in the Spanish side of things for the past year I would definitely keep control of the business and continue to get an income from it.

Biggest problem for couples who move to Spain, is that women have difficulty in settling which frequently causes marital strain.

I f you have some thing to return to, you will be more secure should it not work out.
