A question for the moderators
« on: November 23, 2006, 12:24:54 am »
I notice that everyone has a different category assigned to them, wether it be newbie or junior ....... right through to GOD.

As a new member I remember thinking that someone who is a full member or a GOD must really know what they are talking about. Long time in the business, been around the block, handing down their knowledge.

However, that's not it is it or I have misunderstood? It seems the more you post the higher your status with no discernible reference to your understanding or level of competence.

Is it possible therefore to attempt a degree rating as to how valuable people found the response so that we may rate those that give feedback, hopefully then the people who offer advice and support will be rated higher than those who merely mock. :)

Hi Nigel

Although not a Moderator now I know ehere you are coming from on this one...

A lot of sites have done away with the rating system whichever method is applied.

The star rating system by readers is open to misuse...I believe Cleantalk had this system in the very early days...most of us opted out

Also you will find that different CC will find different advice usefull, i.e someone may recommend the use of of microsplitters while another may suggest a detergent based product. im sure you know how hotly these products are compared with each other.

This what forums are about.......it's an open space in which you are, theoretically invited and given the opportunity to talk and listen and hopefully learn, or maybe teach.

Over restrictive forums...........and two immediately come to mind are paranoid about their agendas, or products and ban people for challenging their claims.

This is a very open forum and rarely bans anyone, although blatent advertising is removed.

The titles are notional and have no " Real World " relevence and should be taken with a kilo of salt.

just make the best use of the time spent on here

Nigel, good point but it has been brought up before. Rob has given good advice as always as with a bit of salt. Personally I would get rid of all acredation but on the whole you only have to read a few posts of gods, newbies or anyone else as to if they know what they are on about. Some shoot themselves in the foot and even supply the gun. There are some who post 5 or 10 times a day but have no idea about anything to do with this business, oh well, best, Dave. P.S. Lets all get in the same room and discuss what it is we do. Would be an interesting meeting I have no doubt. I certainly would turn up as I have a boat load of questions for fellow cleaners and business owners.....

The initial observation is an interesting one . A couple of months ago I watched "a newibe" make the meteoric rise to the status of a "god" in a couple of weeks despite having never, by his own admission, put a wand to the weave. I myself have been cleaning carpets for over 10 years but would never consider myself to be a "god" in any way, shape or form and bow to my erudite collegues on this site as I find there comments for the most part interesting and valuable esp when they sticck to cleaning issues Altough the occaisional humerous tangent does no harm. So for my part it is good to use this site for what it is and view everything with a bit of discearnment and the aforememtioned kilo of salt.

Regards
Fred (newbie)

With all due respect Gods name is not god or even God and anyway this is a cleaning forum. I take it your post was intended as a humerous one. Hard to tell. ;D

In a previous incarnation, prior to a heart scare, I posted under a different title and was fairly prolific, being an early riser and late to bedder.

You've got to remember it's a forum and to stimulate extra debate a system like this is used to generate more posts.

The posters (may or may not be cleaners) get rewarded for their continual posting, I appreciate that it would be false to class them as a well knowledged cleaner but how else could ANY forum work and reward?

If it wasn't for these forums I don't think we would get alot of the good educational messages across.

Think on.

"If God created everything, who created God?" If a seed or a big bang created God, where did the seed or the big bang come from? How can something come from nothing?  Think the word God is a generic term.

Anyway welcome to the forum, look forwards to the banter, think you will find love/hate relationship, but if and when we meet up hand shakes
