Aschcombe Distributors = ALLTEC
« on: November 11, 2006, 08:48:27 pm »
OK guys I know alot of you champion ALLYEC and I can see why, However! I am a bit wary, this is why.
When I brought my first set up an Elite DL plus everything I needed to get started back in 1987 from Ashcombe Distributors I paid my 5K got the equiptment was booked in for my training, arrived at set time but POP! gone!
Luckily I found a local CC prepared to help with training & advise, then went on a different course, everything going great then BANG! pump gone, no Ashcombe, no spares. I really was not impressed with the whole thing I was treated badly!  Got your money, tuff luck! I would be interested to know the link between ALLTEC & Ashcombe because up until now I have avoided to business with them because I still have a bitter taste. If anyone knows what happened, please let me know.

Regards

I buy my euipment from Alltec and have never had a problem,

Chris in the service department is the tops, can and will fix most things for you.

Customer service girls are good, Kara has come back and sorted out everything again.

I'm sure that if you speak with Robert he will bend over backwards to make you a happy customer again.

People either love Robert and Alltec or they dont, I dont think their is any middle ground. Helped me a lot when I was getting started.

They dont like negative so give them a call.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Ashcombe was run by Lloyd Owens who went under during the recession.

Alltec were a seperate business who were offered the rump of Ascombe for not very much so they took it, this all happened many years ago.

I have found Alltec offer very good customer service.

Cheers

" Once bitten "

This is a pretty astonishing comment after 20 odd years and based on a false assumption, as Doug has shown.

To harbour a grudge like this is very sad and casting  doubt on the credibility of an ethical company is criminal.

You should have gone to Robert Saunders, at the time and found out the true situation, still can't get my head around the £5000 for a portable 20 years ago.

That would equate to around £12000 plus at todays costs

I've dealt with alltec for a number of years and find the service exellent, not the cheapest, but then I would sooner them not be, and so be able to turn a profit to keep supplying me! ;D

                                     All the best

My reason for this posting was to find out the connection between the two companies. It wasnt to slag ALLTEC off. I was aware that it is a different Co just wanted to know the story. My once bitten comment was meant if it was the same directors. 5K was spent on Elite DL, Scrubba, Solvent cleaning machine all chemical, etc etc etc  Please dont take it personnel, I'm sure you wouldnt have been that happy either.

Just suggesting , that it's taken an awful long time to raise the subject and it might have been more subtle, to simply ask...............does anyone know what happened to Ashcombes rather than appear to implicate a third party.

I trust you managed to overcome the problems and built a successful business!

my dad bought an elite DL back in 1987, the same year as it happens, i believe the scrubber was almost as much as the machine, i think it was around 3.4k for both, its supprising how little prices have changed. the elite DL was sold by me a year or two ago, still working fine!!

I dont think that I did implicate a third party, just wasnt happy with the way I was treated. Never mentioned it before because I refused to deal with ALLTEC in the past. However, I have seen that it does look like a good company now and I am aware that alot of you speak highly of them. So I thought it might be time I give them a try.

My understanding is that Alltec purchased the fibreglass moulds and little else from the Aschcombes administrators after they went bust.

As for their spares, Trevor Ives, who serviced my Alltec Pro Plus, would only buy spares direct from Alltec as they gave a better warranty. Over many years, I've had both Vacs and pump replaced at almost one year old.  These are for genuine Lamb Amteck/Flojet items.  I suspect that the lower cost items from WCS as mentioned are pattern parts.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

I think where the confusion has set in both Ashcombe and Alltec have Farm Addresses.

Although I only went to Ashcombe once I think it was a different farm but I could be wrong.  It was dark.

What happened to Lloyd Owen,

it appears Extracta bought the rights to his Manual and Letters.

Shame about people going bust but regretably a lot of us lost our Houses and bossiness During the Thatcher years.

It was a price well Worth paying. John Major 1991

I think you should take your head out of the sand Ian

It's an awful lot more difficult, to pay your way under the present regime and I won't bother to go on about the massive indirect taxation, state of roads, schools, hospital service.

We are on meltdown in many aspects of our society and none of it was caused by M Thatcher
