650 K worth of house
« on: November 08, 2006, 06:40:23 pm »
Ive cleaned this house for 3 years now, the guy B4 me (i took over from him)  cleaned it for over 10

so the people move out

its been empy for about 4 months

i pop around today to speak to them, its not that i need the work, its just i hate losing any when they move, and my round is nice and compact and i like it that way

i tap on the door, a few cars on the drive, a builder van is parked up, with a few guys working inside

so i ring the bell

Hello, i used the clean the windows for the last owners

Oh hello, great of you to call in, could i have a price on just the upstairs windows

well the complete job including the conserv was 25 pounds

how much ?? ?? ?? (looked as she was about to faint)

25 pounds, for the complete clean, if you want to just have the conserv done everyother time, it'll be 20 pounds

Ummmmmmm well thats a lot of money for just cleaning the windows

a fair price for a top notch job

well, i had planned to clean the downstairs as i know that will be done to my standard

i can assure you, you will be more tha happy with the standard they are cleaned

but i would prefere just a price for the upstairs

fair enough, 10 pounds

how much ?? ?? ??, couldnt you do it for 9

***now i should have just walked away***

10 pounds for the upstairs windows

Oh ok

*** i then procede to explain the WFP system ***

Oh, you use a stick, ive seen my daughters house done with 1 of them, the windows were left all smeared

ive been using the system for 2 years now and have yet to have a complaint, it must have just been a window cleaner who did a poor job, the system works great in the right hands

oh, im not sure

*** another cue for me to walk away ***

I will tell you what, i will give you a trial

*** yet another cue to walk *** but i was trying to be professional

ok, will see you monday ot tuesday

 ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

so whats the odds that i do it once and she isnt happy

made me laugh, it really did, she really thought she was doing me a favour for the 10 quid of work, i really dont need it, thats what makes is funny to me

so when i have my Tea tonight, i will "thanks the kind rich lady" for giving me the 10 quid of work

I wouldn't do tops only even before I had WFP.  If a potential customer is like that from the start, I don't hold out much hope of it lasting.  Personally, I would spare myself the grief and quit before I started.

Matt

After your other customer paying someone else the other day, doesn't sound like you're having the best week ....

I don't use WFP but surely she isn't going to take it when her downstairs windows are wet ??  Sounds like too much hassle to me, but I know what you mean about not wanting to lose a house,

Good luck anyway

Matt

I had a similar conversation earlier and i did walk!

New customer requesting her windows to be cleaned. i popped round unanounced last Thursday but her gate was locked i didn't have a whippet with me so left her a note saying i will call again this tuesday so could she leave her gate open?

I pop round tuesday she answers the door

I say "hello i;m here to clean your windows"

She says "oh i'm just on my way to the doctors"

I say "thats not a problem just unlock your gate and we can get on with it"

she said "i'd rather be here"

I said "ok i'll make yours the first in the morning at 8am"

She said "thats a little early"

I said "ok well then its not at all... bye!"

packed up my stuff and went. i know its just off to the wrong start so its gonna be hassle, i gave her a little flexability being the first clean but enough was enough! >:( >:(

i had a farmer and his wife try to get me to split the difference between 20 & 25 quid, they tried for 10 mins for the sake of 2.50. i refused of course, they finaly agreed to 25 after much groaning, gave me the cheque then got into 2 seperate 30+ grand top of the range brand new 4x4s and left!!!!!!

camels rectum in a sand storm springs to mind!!

I would do a quick rush job then when she fobs you off at least you've got the better of her and haven't wasted your time!

the sad thing is, its now just a game for me

i will turn up, do the job, and i will even call back after my days work, just so she can find 1 spot :)

its not about the money, its just the attitude of her

Matt - how on earth are you going to do tops only with wfp?

Please, please, please don't do them.

Write a note, and pop it thru' her door and this is what it says.

Dear Madam,

Upon reflection I have decided not to clean your windows.

Kind regards,

Matt

I have done tops only for a few, they get fed up doin the btms after a bit and ask for the lot to be done. I would  charge £12.50 ish because set up and collecting is the same.
