How does the water decant into the container? Is it through sealed pipe connection (inlet and out let) or drip down feed?
Will the water container have connections for inlet feed from RO IF it is sealed pipe connection?
Can I fit ball cock and shut off fill to container? If si will this cause problems with the RO
What is best RO to get. I need 4 stage RO should I go for Merlin? RO-Man or any other ecommendations??
Is it sensible to just fill 8 25 lts cannisters by filling them up from water container and walking to the car or would a transferr pub be required / sensible.
System will be in the garage. Will i need to connect a sealed waste pipe from RO to waste outlet? If not do you just have watse pipe over nearest drain???
Sorry for all questions but not too sure of detail on how this is set-up.
Some of the answers may depend on where you live. - i.e. hard water or soft water area (I wish people would put their area on their profiles).
I'm not certain of exacvtly what you're asking. Maybe you use different terminology to me.
My system is basically MAINS > 2 x PRE-FILTERS > RO > SMALL DI RESIN CONTAINER ATTACHED TO RO > 1,000 LITRE STATIC HOLDING TANK. In the holding tank, I have a submersible pump connected to 1 1/4" green hose for fast transfer into van tank. Van tank has another DI unit which polishes off the water (if needed) as I'm using it.
I think the "water container" you are referring to is what I'm calling the static holding tank.
I suppose some kind of ballcock system could be rigged up. Mine doesn't work that way. I believe it's an electrical shut off. I'm not a DIYer so certainly not the best person to answer this post (but no-one else seems to have got around to it). I paid others to do most of it for me.
Asking which RO is like asking how long a piece of string is. It depends on whether water quality or quantity is the more important. I understand that Merlins produce a lot but at a higher TDS so resin would often be needed before using the water (or at the point of use). Whichever way you do it, you certainly want an RO that will produce sufficient water that you don't run dry (obviously). Only you will know how much water you are likely to get through.
Regarding the water canisters. I find 25 litres of water a bit heavy to keep lifting regularly (but I'm a fat old git). If you only need to carry a short way and you're fit then OK. Otherwise you may prefer a pump.
I'm sure you could get away with running the waste pipe into a drain gulley or similar (just make sure it's not vulnerable to freezing). You're not really meant to run such things into the storm drain but it's a small quantity and a slow flow. Mind you, if everybody did it........ .
As I say, I'm no DIYer myself. Hope my vague answers have been some help (but I doubt it).
