I took out insurance with HSBC for the first time this year.

£89  ;D

Including items being worked on  :D

I have read the policy through cover to cover and it states that it DOES cover items being worked on for problems like shrinkage and colour run !

I still think that they have made a mistake, but I have it in black and white, so ???  ;)

My renewal quote from HSBC is £268.00
Sole trader
Public Liability Cover inc damage to articles being worked on
Plus Tools / Machine Cover should they be stolen/damaged when out on a job. (up to £20000)
If that last statement sounds a bit odd it covers me for example if I nip into the shops or a real dodgy area and my stuffs nicked out the back. Or Damage...eg Machine falls out of van when driving along !
Dont laugh... in my last van I once drove about 3 miles with both rear doors open and all my gear in the back. I only realised when everyone was waving and tooting !!!

I don't think it's a mistake as mine was almost the same price (Slightly cheaper  ;D)

What seems to hike the price up is selecting things like machine insurance etc. If you go for simple public liability and product insurance only then it's very cheap. Note that the excess is fairly high if you do shrink a carpet so I can't see the HSBC paying out too often.

Yes you are covered for shrinkage and discolouration as there is an endorsement on the policy for CC treatment risk.

Problem is when I recently claimed Allianz the insurer didn't realise that HSBC had put this in!

Also I said to chappy thought my treatment risk was 500, he said no 250. Then he rang me back said I wasn't covered at all for treatment risk :o

He later rings back and said I was covered. ???

Apart from that they have been very good with this claim.

Mike, sorry if this sounds stupid, but when you state treatment risk figures, is this the excess you have to pay on a claim or is this the amount the insurer is only willing to pay ?
