backpack
« on: October 30, 2006, 11:44:49 am »
Hi all

I need your help guys. I have only had the backpack for 3 month now which is still new to me in my eye.

Today I have been filling up my six 25 lite bottle and check it with TDS reading to make sure it 000 or no more than 002. but it came up as 012 for the first one and then the second bottle came up 018, then the next reading for the next bottle came up 024.

By the time I got to my six bottle the reading is 067.

What going on? my water treatment system is less that three month old.

Do any of you know what wrong with it?

I keep it in my shed at night so it not like I am not taking care of it.

I got it from cleantech and I am not willing to spend any more money on this and it should last me longer than 3 poxy month

I am p off today.  >:(

Is there somthing I can do to sort out the water treatment system?

HELP!

Dave >:(

What water treatment system do you have?

Are you flushing it regularly?

Have you a hand held TDS meter where you can take readings after the RO, but before the DI?  You do this by pulling out the tube just before it goes into the DI chamber.  What's the reading here?

What's the reading after the DI?

Mabye it's something simple like just a change of resin needed.  Try changing that first.

Also, a better title for this thread would be 'RO problem, TDS reading HIGH' or something similar, since it's nothing to do with your backpack.

What do you mean are you flushing it regularly? RO,

However do you both have any idea how long the water treatment system should last you for?

I have no idea what a dekal d40 is.

Is it an RO system with a DI resin chamber?

Rich.

I don't know what a RO system is?

On my water treatment system it say dekal D-40.

I think I better ring cleantech tomorrew.

But can you tell me how long your water treatment system last you for?

Just done a search on dekal and it looks like your filter system may be designed more for coffee making rather than for the large quantities required for window cleaning

Then i can't understand why i got dekal D-40 water purification and tosh got RO- water purification system. We both got shurflo backpack from cleantech and yet we both got different water purification system.

Unless tosh ask for a specific water purification system before buying the backpack.
I don't think that fair!

But I am still hoping that someone can  tell me how long water treatment system should last you for?

David.

No-one will be able to give you any answers unless they know exactly what the Dekal thing is.

Did your supplier ask you if you live in a soft or hard water area?

If you are in a hard water area you should have an RO system

Rich.

No problem David.

I got 2 from Williamson pumps and the last 4 from Andrew at Pure Freedom.

I honestly think you are somewhat confused by all of this.

The backpack is simply a means of carrying and delivering the pure water. It is completely seperate from the water purification equipment.

I think a couple of companies sell a "starter kit" which includes a backpack.

When choosing your water purification equipment its vital to know if you are in a hard or soft water area. Soft water areas will be suitable for a DI only system which is what I suspect you have.  I really dont know though.  Is it possible for you to take a pic of what you are using to purify your water and post it here?

Rich.

David

Take a TDS reading of the water going IN to your DI vessel. Thats what Mark has shown you.  (Thats the reading FROM the tap).

Let us know what it is and then we can help.

Also measure your vessel.  Height and width and let us know that.

No i use a RO like in tosh's photo and a DI canister similar to the above to 'polish' the water after the RO.
It sounds like you might need to change the resin inside.

The tds reading going in is 292 and when filtered is 97. I was getting a 0 reading to when I first got it. The size of the vessel is 2' 3" circumferance and 1' 7"high

David,

It seems you have only got a De Ionising filtre
and at 292 TDS going in it will be used up in no time.
You need a Reverse Osmosis. like the one Tosh showed.

Ring Mike at Cleantech and he will put you right.  I don't think for one minute he has sold you wrong.  It will probably cost you about £120 for a 100gpd RO.

Hi David

Cheers for the phone number but I won't be able to ring you as I am hard of hearing.

Look like I will have to get my mother to ring Mike at cleantech.

But just out of curiosity when you got your backpack starter kit for the first time.
Did you get what I got now, not the RO water treatment system.

Just so I know before I get my mother to ring mike.

Cheers

Dave
