HSE Document - 112 Pages of how to climb onto a flat roof...
« on: October 24, 2006, 03:10:06 pm »
Here's an interesting document for any window cleaning geeks:

http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrpdf/rr478.pdf

It 112 pages long, but basically says studies have shown that it's dodgy to climb onto or off a ladder to gain access to a flat roof.

It says you should tie the ladder off at the top, to prevent sideways slip; where possible, or use a ladder stabilisation device (such as a Rojak).

Anyway, they didn't have to go to all this trouble; they could've just asked me.  I've nearly fallen when a ladder I was just about to climb onto slipped sideways.

Nicely put.
Yes those pages of mathematical formulas don't put it quite so simply do they?

I knew I should have studied harder at school.. :P

Did a google before there were some iffy answers on here . . .  Wee Beasty is Dave Harris's electronics firm. I won't ask!

Who or what is Wee Beasty?

I met a few small ugly Jock squaddies who were nick-named 'Wee Beasty'.

I think it's a standard nick-name for Scottish people who are short and ugly.  A bit like anyone whose surname is Bell gets called 'Dinger', or White and called 'Chalky', or Clarke and called 'Nobby'.

If you're short, ugly and Scottish, you're called Wee Beastie.

Most of blokes in Scotland must have this nick name.

I'm sure there is a simpler way too say all that.

btw: without all the white and blank areas, i'm sure it could be about 50 pages.
HSE are trying to showoff

I've never understood the last one. The original Mr Clarke must have been a bit of a lad!

Hmmm. I'm definitely Scottish, but I'm 5'9" and scrub up well on a Friday night - that includes me out then.

Oi cheeky - what's the nickname for Geordie cross-dressers then? I saw that picture - Rocky Horror Show? More like the usual get up for going down the pub, if you ask me!   :-*
