It 112 pages long, but basically says studies have shown that it's dodgy to climb onto or off a ladder to gain access to a flat roof.

It says you should tie the ladder off at the top, to prevent sideways slip; where possible, or use a ladder stabilisation device (such as a Rojak).

Anyway, they didn't have to go to all this trouble; they could've just asked me.  I've nearly fallen when a ladder I was just about to climb onto slipped sideways.

I met a few small ugly Jock squaddies who were nick-named 'Wee Beasty'.

I think it's a standard nick-name for Scottish people who are short and ugly.  A bit like anyone whose surname is Bell gets called 'Dinger', or White and called 'Chalky', or Clarke and called 'Nobby'.

If you're short, ugly and Scottish, you're called Wee Beastie.

Most of blokes in Scotland must have this nick name.

I've never understood the last one. The original Mr Clarke must have been a bit of a lad!
