£20 a few times think i've had a £30 and a couple of £25 I allways get juicy tips from most,  ;D ;D

I get tips basically everyday £3 here £2 there sometimes £10-15 a day in tips but somedays not many, its all about what your customers think of you. All of mine think highly of me which is not allways a good thing because when they start talking  ::)  I get cups of tea, kit kats, penquins some even bring me out toast and chese bagels things of some description or other, im not complaing although for some reason its allways the female customers who bring out the food, maybe there trying to fatten me up ;D

Question for the envelope guys, since switching to this new collecting system Im wondering (fearing) im not going to get much in the way of tips come xmas, do all you guys go out collecting late december with cristmas hats on or something ;D ;D or accept that you had a good year of none collecting and its time to pay a price for that?

ONce got 2 bottles of malt whiskey and a bottle of smirnoff all from same customer that must add up to a fair whack.

Mate of mine got given a customers conservatory as a tip!!! Was worth a couple of thousand. SHe was getting another one and he offerred to help her dismantle it. She said if he did, he could keep it. Added about 10k to the value of his house!

The best I had was about £14.
I get far fewer since I stopped doorstep collecting but I reckon the cost of collecting far outweighs any lost tips.

we get about £100 in tips in December.  My staff divide it between themselves.

I find it's the lower-end residential customers who give tips and most (not all) of my posher clients don't.

To be honest, I personally don't like taking tips; but rarely try and refuse them; that has the possibility of creating a 'Father Ted' situation ('Yer will, yer will, etc).

I'm generally happy with what I'm paid for my work; and find the 'keep the change' a bit embarrassing.

I also like to give out Christmas cards to my customers; all of them, which sort of 'asks' for a tip; so I may add a line to my chit saying, 'Christmas is comming, but we don't want tips; just customers happy with our service'

That aside, my best tip though was a 10 Year old bottle of Glenfiddich whisky given to me by a customer who had it given to them; but they didn't like whisky.

I usually make around the 100 mark. Although this year for personal reasons I would like to donate it to my local hospitals cancer wing. I've thought of sending xmas cards to my customers this year and maybe inform them of my fundraising, though I'm a bit shy about doing so and if its such a good idea.
Anyone got any opinions or advice?

would agree with that over the years the customers have got bigger and the chance of a christmas tip has gone out the window ha ha  never had a invoice back from a commercial customer for more than the invoice eva would be nice though...

My Biggest is £50 but must admit that's from my daughters, in-laws, thats every year, and my smallest was 8p from a SIR, and I think that was only because we didn't have any change between us ::)
