employing someone full time

im thinking about employing I disagreeistant as a full time wc'r but unsure about the legal side of things ???

can someone tell me the way to go about it and what i would have to do and what i would  be responsible for as an employer...or if theres a way around it without actually employing him without being illegal.

i dont want to go ahead with this till i know more about it all, and where better to get some advice from than on here!!

You would need Employers Liability Insurance and you would need to inform the revenue either with a P45 or P46. You would also be well advised to have written terms and conditions of employment. You could take him on as a sub contractor but he would need Employers Liability Insurance also if he only sub contracts to you then the revenue might treat him as an employee.

Look at the new employers section. speak to their helpline they are very helpful. I had lots of help from them when I set up

Have a read of IR 56 (it's easy to find in google) Inland Revenue Fact Sheet 56.

It's a good starting point.
