Do you know what really gets up my nose?

It's when people mean 'think', but type 'thing'.

It really winds me up, especially when they're correcting others on their English!

My advice is never ever be a 'spelling and grammar Hitler' on an internet forum, 'cos you'll only get (what's the phrase I read here recently), 'hung by your own petard'!!!

Let's face it no one on here comes on to look for good examples of English (we would be sorely disappointed if we were!!!!!!). We would be visiting the Grammaritup forum for frustrated school teachers if that's what we wanted.

What I use though to stop me sounding completely thick is the Google toolbar spelling check which allows you to check all your spellings in any Internet Explorer fill in form.

I am also also disappointed with peoples pronounciation and grammer, it is also nice to know that i am not the only one who is concerned about the rapidly declining usage of the english language
I therefore think it would be approiate for the moderators to block any posts that,  do not contain the correct spelling,
contain any mispronounications and the incorrect use of any apostrophe's.

Mods can you please delete Bluesteve's post; the one where he got it wrong.

This guy complains about spelling, yet he 'flips' up how to spell 'appropriate' in his own post!

What a chump.

He reminds me of Squeaks!

Nah, by the amount of mistakes it's got to be a wind-up . . .

I am also also disappointed with peoples' pronunciation and grammar, it is also nice to know that I am not the only one who is concerned about the rapidly declining usage standard of the English language.

I therefore think it would be appropriate for the moderators to block any posts that,  _do not contain the correct spelling, contain any mispronunciations and the incorrect use of any apostrophe's.

The one that really gets me is the amount of people that get there and their wrong. I see it on this forum all the time. I wish they would get their act together. (or was it there ;D ;D ;D ;D).

You're quite right there John. They're always getting them mixed up.

It's not their fault they're lacking, it may have been  their parents' failure.  They're the ones!

Aw come on  – does it really matter if words are spelt incorrectly. This is a cleaning forum not one for Mensa members.

I acknowledge spelling is one of my weaknesses but would be mortified if I thought you lot were taking the p*ss (or not taking my post seriously) just because I cannot spell.

As long as the advice is good and readers know what you are attempting to say then does it matter in the big scheme of things.

Be careful this type of criticism (or mick taking) does not make people feel uncomfortable about posting in fear that the good spellers look down on them.

Time permitting I type my replies in word and spell check it.

Rant over.  :o :-*

It matters to Malc G!.  I remember him pointing out some of my spelling errors; the 'grammer Nazi'!  Or is it 'grammar'?  Who cares?

You're funny as usual. ::)

Why not check back through some of my posts?
Doubt you'll see much in the way of spelling mistakes or bad grammar. ;)

195 hits & 19 responses not bad so far.

And I know my spelling is carp, but I would never aks for advise or would want anyone to advice me on spelling or grandmar. Its just one of things.
