Are you using a portable or tm?. I did some bad carpet tiles a while back using my prochem steempro. Pre sprayed with Hi - Force (now called Powerburst) rinse extracted with hot water an Fibre & Fabric Rinse. Worked for me

Did a kitchen this morning that hadnt been cleaned for 5 years.

Vacuumed thoroughly, sprayed on One Step, agitated with a Sebo duo, let it dwell while I put away sprayer Sebo etc., rinsed with hot water, went over two small stains that were still present and rinsed these.

Finished job looked very good and custy was pleased.

The real benefit on this job was that the tiles were stuck down and in very good nick. Tiles that lift with the wand are not so clever.

Hi

Welcome to the forum  :D

You will find two main flavours of advice will be served by forum members and it's up to your pallete to select the one you prefer.  In essence, both have been posted allready with gerry suggesting the detergent route and rambly opting for the splitter.

I have used both on tiles and prefer detergents, but its up to you to decide.

I think the key to cleaning tiles is good agitation.  We use a shampoo brush on a heavy rotary as an alternative to more lightweight solutions like a host or sebo duo.

Alas, whatever you use, put out a good quality prespray and agitate it to death.  We have been using traffic clean from prochem, or something a bit milder (crystal green or fibresafe gold) if the fibre doesnt like the solvent or alkalinity of TC.  We then rinse it with acidic rinse (fibre and fabric rinse or alltech conc acid rinse). Others might not like our choice, but it does a good job.

In one extremely soilded and almost flat carpet, we went over it with bonnet (think we used splitter and charly pads) as it seemed to be wicking a bit.

Hope this helps

Just a quick follow up to say that I agree with Graeme in that you need to choose the method that you feel will get the job done properly. I use microsplitters (sometimes) and will get the Traffic lane cleaner out on other jobs.

In this instance the tiles were well bonded, in very good condition and relatively clean considering how long they had been down. So I went for ms as I wasnt sure about the backing material.

Overall I think it is a matter of judgement and individual experiences on how you approach each job as there are no hard and fast rules. Therefore provide you dont do anything really daft you will at least have the chance to go over and do it again if the result is not satisfactory.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Im running an alltec advantage with all the relevant startup chems etc. in cases like theese i would have usualy pre-sprayed with a high ph chem like p.c's multi pro then straight forward extraction ,i cant realy afford a scrubber/roto at the moment, guess that should be at the top of my wish list this christmas! Its always good to hear feed back on which traffic lane cleaners to use- because like i said before, i have only used a select few! Thanks again!!
