Don't go too scientific on me, but what does anyone know about the real cleansing properties of purified water?

Is it just water being agitated on the window by a scrubbing brush?

I know the difference between ordinary water and 000TDS means that the glass should dry "clear".  But what other, if any, cleansing power does purified have, that any other water doesn't have?

pure water is more aggressive than tap water,try tap water on bird poo then try pure water on it [just by soaking it]

Do you remember that experiment you may have done in school, where you fill a beaker with water; to the brim.

You then start pouring tea-spoon fulls of salt into the beaker and it doesn't imediately overflow.

That's because the water molecules are like 'marbles' and the salt granules disolve and 'fit' inbetween the molecules of water.

Then suddenly, when there's no space left between the molecules of water; after another spoon of salt, the water over-flows.

Following this:

Pure water has 'more space' between it's molecules than hard water; therefore makes a better solvent than tap water; because it can disolve and hold more impurities than normal (hard) water.

Anecdotal evidence that I've witnessed shows this to be true. 

If you want to be anal about it; get two exact sized glasses and fill each to the brim; one with tap water and one with pure water.

Then start filling each with exactly measured amounts of salt.

I bet the pure water takes more salt before it overflows.

Tosh, thats a really good way of explaining it - sort of correct but sort of not but still a good way to explain it.

Pure water is polarised, like a magnet, and will attract +ve charged particles such as sodium (Na2+) and will form chemical bonds with the free ions (Ionic, covalent, double covalent and Van der Waals), but again what Tosh says about having gaps in it is 'true' also as the new compounds become free to move around in the water between the water molecules and in some cases attach to the water molecules.

Interesting....

So, does purified 'absorb' more dirt from a window?
Because it has the capacity to carry more 'dirty' molecules, which are minerals etc?
