Just got a voicemail on the phone , woman i quoted for last week gave me the job , when i eventually got sick of her ringing me all the time i went to quote and it was as i thought , a horrible job , remembering what i have seen on here i over inflated the price to the extreme , was worth no more than £30 .
I quoted her £100 as i dont want to do it , and i mean really dont want to do it .
She has only gone and accepted it hasnt she 

I feel a bit bad now , although it is gonna be a pig of a job and it is 3 monthly , its only gonna take 1.5 hrs first time and 1 hr there after .
Should i worry about this giving me a bad press ?

Does she know how long it will take you.
Will she be in.
Do you clean others in the area.
If it is a pig of a job then the price will reflect that.
Maybe she has been trying for ages to get some one to clean her.
So the tables could be turnrd you might be her saviour.

Yes i get the impression she has been searching for a w/c for ages , its gotta be done wfp , it has to be done with them in , no access to rear either , i tried to put her off with the hoses through the house excuse , shes hellbent on me doing it though .

The best thing about it though is when i was looking for the place i went down a little lane to find i had the wrong house , a woman came running out and asked me to do hers and her detatched neighbour , so that was another £50 for the pair

Its totally filthy , flakey old frames , trees in way , huge glass canopy below 1st floor windows , 2nd floor windows set back a little , and its every 3 months .

So looking at it again , i dont suppose i was that overpriced , its gonna be a right ball ache ! .

Even if it takes 2 hrs a go , its still £50 an hour .

its not like you had her at gun point to accept (i hope ) Sounds like you even did your best to put here off ie with the hoses through the house and then a big old price and she still accepted.My guess is she has had other higher qoutes or not been able to get a w c at all. do it at the price you went in on and if it is a real, doodle and she is a nice lady maybe say you would do it for eighty pounds if she had it done say 8 weekly.They would be cleaner for you she saves a score. Happy days.

So that's £400 a year = a bit under £8 per week or if you want to feeol better about it, that's two packs of cigarettes or 3 - 4 pints of beer a week (just having a stab at prices as I've not drunk or smoked in 20 years but I imagine I'm about right).
I once had a lengthy negotiation with a lady who was trying her hardest to beat down my price and reduce the frequency of cleans.  She chainsmoked three cigarettes while we were discussing it.  I had to imagine a zip across my mouth :-)

  Go for it Rich, as she has asked for bi monthly it's worth the money. If you
  drop the price then she will probably ask for it to be monthly, hence reason
  why she went bi monthly when you quoted the price.

   I have these pain jobs where I quote really high but do not do these monthly.

   If I had to do them every month I would be fed, doing them now and then at
   the price I charge I do not mind doing it.

I always price on the quality of my work, not per hour. Why feel guilty, she is probably delighted to have found a good, honest and reliable window cleaner! And as someone else said she did not have to say yes. One of my jobs I priced at £50, they said that their current window cleaner only charged £8, but they accepted my quote as they had heard that I do an excellent job, and their window cleaner did a very poor job.

It may take a while at first but after the first one or two cleans you shold be a lot familiar with the job and cutting down time. and if you get it down to an hour its a bloody good rate, is that a rate on your own or do you have helpers?

I have an old dojo that had flaking frames, after the first/two cleans most of the loose paint had gone. and now its easy to clean

Go for it Rich! if she wants it that badly and she is prepared to pay for it - go for it, as others have said you can always drop the price after a while or put the money in the poor box!   

But beware the charitable thing - I am on my first week of WFP and did a bungalow, a big bungalow with dormers yesterday, so decided to do the whole thing with the pole. It took a lot less time so knocked a bit off the price. Got home tonight to an answerphone message from the husband '' thanks for doing a great job this year on the windows they are really good but we have decided not to have them done during the winter so we will ring you in the spring when we want you to start again  '' ?  yes, right! and thanks for the words of support!

I've done exactly the same thing.

The place ( a resindentual home) is a nightmare. Everything is 100% arkward. There is not one straight forward window in the entire building. Worse than that, the lady in charge of cleaning services is a retired ex matron of 40 years NHS standing and is 'picky'. Every one of the 48 flats has an OAP in it and why do they want to discuss their ailments?

The job is a days work for one person and we have massive arguements about who's turn it is each month.

It was mine last month and when finished I was stressed, knackered, wound up and stinking like a pig because the place is so hot inside. I could have called that blo*dy woman every name under the sun. I hate her following me around all day.

Actually, it's not a resindentual home for the elderly. It's a military training camp for OAP's.

Sorry, but I don't feel any sympathy for you.    I'm just glad I'm not alone in giving a sky high price on the basis of not wanting the job and then getting it.

I think there is quite a difference between getting stressed for a whole day compared to just an hour or two.
Anyway, how long would it have taken to do it traditonally?
That sounded overpriced to me for 1 1/2 hours work.
But if it would have taken 3 or 4 hours traditionally and is every 3 months then i think that could be a good price for everyone.
It's funny how the same figures can give different impressions.
A couple of those extra each week would set me up nicely.

It realy makes you wonder ,had a customer  shocked today because i quoted her £8.00.
How can other trades do it but not us.
