Stolen pole system Need Help
« on: April 18, 2004, 07:48:00 pm »
Regrettably I have had my new trailer and pole system stolen, so if anyone hears of one being sold on the cheep I would be grateful for a call!!
It was stolen on Monday night from Dudley West Midlands from outside my house. It is a white small box trailer, and on the side is the ionic logo, (a water man holding a pole) coupled with saying “the reach & wash system”.
Sadly, I am not insured for this item so any help anyone can do I would be very grateful
Thank for you help
Brian :'(

Sorry to hear of your loss, chances are it was another window cleaner. Generally thieves with honour say they would never steel from individuals, taking the tools of your trade is dispicable and gives a good insight into the kind of people that we sometimes rub shoulders with in this trade.

All the more reason for standards to be raised in this industry.

Sorry to hear of your loss Brian.

Even though you are not insured still report this to the Police if you haven't already.  Contact Ionics and talk to Craig or Reuben on Monday, I have spoken to them about this before they might be able to help.

Thanks Guys for all your support and your good ideas!
I only hope that I can get it back because I have worked so hard over the years to get something that makes life a little less painful. I only wish these people who take other peoples property understand how much we work to get our kit together!
I am hopeful in the next couple of days to get a photo of the trailer which may also be a help?
Thank again Guy; I will keep you up dated
Regards

it suprises me that for the ammount of money that a trailer system costs, they do not provide any security on them.

A very point, you would have thought that by putting a bold number on the side or back of the trailer for everyone to see would make it easy to be cheeked out when a trailer goes missing! Thereby one simple call to the suppliers of the machine would easily identify if the trailer is stolen. And with no number then a simple call to the police.
Perhaps even a good selling point by the suppliers of the machine?

Its not the wtp venders fault, an simple insurance poilcy would have solved all the probemes here. Its your lively hood thats affected and that need's to be insuranced. I have insurace policies on all my window cleaning equipment, makes sense it costs alot so might as well insurce it?

when i enquired with ott for insurance for a trailer it seems there is nowhere to get it that they know of if anyone knows different. i,m sure we,d love to know. i now use a transit and have had an immobiliser fitted. and my r/o and filters are at base and i fill overnight. alos after having a pole stolen from a pole tube i have all my poles inside the van on a rack of dexion. i also have no signage for reach and wash on the van just my company name. and a low level tank from stream. even my customers can,t work out where i get my water from.
not trying to be smug honestly i learnt the hard way too.
remember that as reach and wash gets more popular we all run a higher risk of theft. why use the logo if it put you at risk of losing everything.

This was my fear when I first bought my system in 2000, having had a previous sign written van complete with floor machines stolen in the 90's.

I have my Reach & Wash insured with Darwin Clayton.  I would suggest that if theives want a system all they have to do is look in Yellow Pages rather than follow a van with a logo.  If the consequences of loss of anything in life is crisis, then you need insurance, and it should be costed into your prices.

Forget insurance and save your money.

I had my equipment stolen in October 2003 and have not had my claim settled, they keep on making enquiries!!.

So if anyones insured by Legal & General be prepaired for a long wait  >:(
