Hello All,

Other than Wineaway what other readily available products are good for cleaning red wine from carpets?

Also... What's the best process to follow when cleaning red wine stains?

Have you been on any courses like the NCCA courses as they give you lots of information.

Lots of suppliers have products for Red wine removal. I personally like the Red wine remover that Alltec sell.

Hi Neil, Prochem do a red rx which is very good but can cause bleaching as you spray it on neat put a white cloth over it and use a warm iron. I got most of a Red wine stain out with Prochems solvall - sprayed on and then left to dwell and rubbed out with a white face cloth (About 22p from Tesco) The customer was very happy with the result.

I have used Prochems Red RX with a damp terry towel and ht iron and always got great results

Prochem stain pro quite a good product (although I've not been too impressed with some of their other products I have tried)
Stain Pro is quite a high ph though, so be careful with it.

Don't forget a lot of wine stains will just come out with standard cleaning. Worth just doing this before messing about with them.

hi there

someone spilt red wime on my lovely carpet, at a party i had a fortnight ago.

oh the guests were running round, "what we going to do red wine on the carpet, put white wine on it , put salt on it??"

leavei it alone i told them.

left it to dry!!!

one week later, got my machine out, multi pro, followed byfibre and fabric rinse.

job done!!!!

looks great, wellactually the whole carpet does.

I always tell my custys to drink the white wine & use water instead.
Also that salt is a mordant used in dyehouses to fix colour in fabric. Its not quite as simple as that but nearly so.

I have removed the results of a full bottle of NZ Red mixed with blackcurrant cordial/liqueuer about 1/2 sq yd with Solutions no 3 spotter.

Red wine has Tannin  in it . Just treat with your normal tea/coffee remover.Only wool or wool composite carets will be a problem dependant on the wine, then just use a reducing agent like sodium metabitsulphite.
